Ah, summer, when the days get longer, weather gets warmer, gas prices go up, and school is the last thing on everyone's mind. However, very frequently movies do a great job of over-glorifying the adventures of summer. Believe it or not, most college students do not spend their summer on a beach in Mexico or traveling on a three-week long cross-country road trip. The buildup of summer is frequently followed by a serious burnout. These are those stages:
1. The Anticipation
Only one more final and then it is home-free. Everyone is packing up, moving out, and it's finally nice enough on campus to wear the beloved Nike Shorts and t-shirt. Cramming sessions are coming to end, and copious amounts of coffee are finally draining from everyone's body system. People are making plans for the day trips, and adventures they plan on taking. The excitement builds and builds.
2. Hibernation.

The first week of sleep back in your own bed is nothing short of heavenly. Sleeping until noon, staying up until 2 a.m. binging on "Grey's Anatomy," the life, and a nice change of speed from school and finals.
3. The Job Hunt

Once we have all come out of our sleep coma, it's apparent that all those summer plans, require money, a thing which most college students lack, so the search begins.
4. Working, and thus having no time for friends.

Undoubtedly your friends will have a different work schedule than you, so it becomes near impossible to get time off for all those amazing beach trips and lake days at the same time. And if you don't work, there is no money for said trips, or food, or gas...
5. Utter boredom.

The time comes when you finally have time off work, and of course, your friends are working, and you're left with nothing to do. Netflix has even gotten old. It's disgustingly hot outside, and everything really fun costs money.
6. Missing School

This might be sacrilegious to even say, but you can't deny that by the time late July, early August rolls around, we all get an itch to go back to school. Our families will start to drive us insane, it's impossible to meet new people back home, and no one has been to a decent party in weeks. We miss our friends because most of those planned adventures never happened. By the time move in comes around, we're all more than ready.
