If you're a beauty enthusiast then you know about the crazy popular current trend of the "liquid lipstick." They were first popularized by the brand Anastasia Beverly Hills. Then brands like Kat Von D, Jeffree Star and Stila came out with their competitors. Now the market is saturated with them and although there are a lot to choose from, one thing stays the same. They are all very expensive. The cheapest I have seen them usually go for is about $18. However, now a popular indie brand known as Colourpop has come to the rescue with their liquid lipstick costing just $6. I recently decided to give them a try.
I decided to purchase six of the liquid lipsticks all mostly in the nude family with one exception. Here you can see me wearing them and their corresponding name attached above
Koala (Light lavender purple)
Seesaw (Soft pink)
Trap (Deep grey beige with purple undertones)
Midi (Flesh-tone nude with grey undertones)
Solow (Light berry pink with red undertones)
Shimmy (Flesh-tone nude with pink undertones)
Now that you've seen what they look like it's time for my review. Overall I love these products. While some shades did apply a tad bit more streaky than others (Koala & Seesaw). I did not find any of them to be bad. Most reviews say these lipsticks are overly drying but I did not find that to be the case. Yes, they are dry on the lips, but so is every other liquid to matte lipstick. It should be known, however, that in order to wear such dry products it is very important to prep your lips in advance. I simply recommend applying a lip balm before you start your makeup and when you're all done and ready to apply the lipstick, simply blot off the balm and apply the product. On top of an already amazing price, these beauties could stay on through a hurricane. They do not budge whatsoever. In saying that, however, it must be noted that if you wear these while eating greasy food the oils in the food will surely break the product down. Aside from that though you can wear these all day long and not even worry about checking in a mirror for a touch up. While competing brands do offer spectacular products as well, these are no lightweight. Bottom line, if you're looking to get in on the liquid lipstick trend and don't want to break the bank go for colourpop.
The products can only be purchased through the brands website https://colourpop.com. Also, if you spend $30 or more you'll receive free shipping as well as a $5 off coupon when you sign up for their newsletter.
