Sickness hit me hard this past week... so hard, in fact, I was throwing up in my chemistry lab. You wish I was joking. It was my first time getting sick in college, and sadly, not the last. It gets us all no matter how much Emergen-C we take. Let's just hope we don't have to go through all of these stages too many times in our college experiences:

1. That funny feeling you wake up with... and realizing you didn't drink last night so it can't be a hangover.

2. Complete denial.

3. Trying to keep it together in class without drawing too much attention to yourself.

4. Pretending everything's fine and overdoing it.

5. Pretty much getting this look from your friends all the time because they know what's really up.

6. Finally hitting a wall.

7. Realizing you have no idea how to take care of yourself.

8. Wishing you could have a mom-hug as you accept certain death.

9. And the worst part of getting sick... still having a TON of work to do.

10. Ignoring your professor's work postings because the thought of moving actually makes you nauseous.

11. Your friends kind of trying to help.

12. And then, despite how terrible you felt before, actually starting to feel better.

13. Finally getting back into your routine and feeling like yourself again. You did it! All done with this mess!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
