The 10 Stages Of Adulting
Figment

If you're a college student by now you know that adulting just comes along with the territory. And if you're a freshman you're probably thinking.."hmm I've heard of the word but I'm not entirely sure what adulting entails." Well my friends welcome to the jungle. Adulting is basically the time in your life when your parents are no longer there to pick you up when you've fallen, or make you eggs when you request them. Its a dark and scary world out here for us these days. Adulting is really just being a fake adult until you go home for the summer and have your mom doing your laundry again, but theres a lot of time until then. So, here is how to recognize you are going through the 10 stages of adulting.

1. Making your bed

When you grow out of the "Why do I have to make my bed if I'm going to get back in it anyways?" stage and start making your bed in the morning, you know that you are officially apart of the adulting world.

2. Cooking

For most of us our idea of "cooking" is pouring a bowl of cereal and really any sort of food you make yourself is considered adulting, even if its dino chicken nuggets.

3. Cleaning

This is a huge step in adulting. If your physically take the time to make something clean you are a full blown adult at this rate. Things only get more difficult from here on out.

4. Laundry

If you could handle cleaning you most likely decided to take the next step which is doing your own laundry. If you made it here congratulations. just remember that darks go with darks and whites go with whites. You can do this.

5. Calling other adults and dealing with adult like problems

Adulting 101 requires you to make phone calls in order to deal with adult like problems that other adults are responsible for. If you need to call another adult get ready to channel your inner mom to get this problem handled.

6. Doctors appointments

a truly scary thought is having to remember all the things you are allergic to and all your family medical history when filling out paperwork at the doctors alone for the first time.

7. Grocery shopping

If you want to go buck wild and get oreos, doritos, and hot pockets do it. you can be whatever kind of adult you want so live out your childhood dreams at the grocery store for the first time.

8. Making reservations

You can't just show up at a restaurant anymore reservations are a thing that totally happened behind the scenes growing up we probably never even knew that our parents did this before we got there.

9. Picking up prescriptions

Your medicine when your sick doesn't just magically appear on your bed side table anymore. you actually have to go get it and deal with other adults. Whip out your insurance card like a boss.

10. Going on interviews

The last and final stage of adulthood comes when you go on a job interview, seriously if you made it here that means you are looking for an actual adult job. Thats a big deal. Welcome to Adulting 400.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
