The 10 People You Meet At Thanksgiving

Every family is different. But at the same time, every family is the same. When everyone is gathered together for the holidays, there are aways certain types of people, and each family has one of these. Which one are you?

1. The Sports Fanatic

This is the person that is glued in front of the TV the entire night. They keep raising the volume so they can hear, and they run around the house cheering when their team scores. They might not take part in some quality family conversation, but hey, at least they showed up... at least for the food.

2. The Talkative Old Man

This might be your Grandpa. Maybe an uncle. But this is the guy that makes sure to talk to everyone, and hug them twenty times as well, commenting how "beautiful" everyone looks. At the end of the day, he's one of the most lovable people there.

3. The Car Guru

There's always that person that only talks about their car. Whether its brand new, or they just put new tires on, its the center of their conversation. You have to be careful talking to them, because depending on how cold it is outside, they might drag you out to see it...

4. The Annoyed One

There's always that one person that just doesn't want to be there. Whether they're completely absent from the group, or sitting at the table on their phone, you know there are other places they'd rather be.

5. The Couple

This could be your sister and her boyfriend, or your cousin and his fiancé, but there's always that one couple that are just so cute that its annoying because it only reminds you of how hopelessly single you are...

6. The Overly Energetic Kid

This kid is the one that gives you a headache. Yes they're adorable. Yes you love them. But they're either screaming or trying to get you to go play with them when all you really want to do is nap on the couch.

7. The Stressed Out Host

The host is the one that seems to never enjoy the party. They're cooking and washing the dishes, or running around making sure everyone's drinks are full. You can tell that they're so stressed because watching them stresses you out. All you want is to grab them and force them to sit and relax.

8. The Wine-a-holic

If you don't know who this is in your family, then here's a heads up that it might be you. Family parties are social hours. What better way to socialize than with a few glasses of wine? Maybe some whiskey. Definitely dessert coffee with Bailey's.

9. The Politician

There's always that one person that is always talking politics. ESPECIALLY on a year right after an election. This is the person that you avoid at all costs because you don't want to think so much to keep up a conversation with them.

10. The Out-of-Towners

This is the family that everyone else comes to see. They don't come often, but when they do it's always the most fun.

At the end of the day, you love them all, and you wouldn't dare trade any of them for anyone else. It might be crazy having everyone under one roof, but it is always worth it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
