The 10 Best Shows You're Not Watching

The holidays are long over, and TV is officially out of hibernation and ready to party with fresh new episodes of... well, just about everything. When looking for something to watch during a study break, it can be easy to go back to the same stuff over and over (hello, "The Bachelor") without realizing how much cool new stuff is airing every week. With channels like TBS, the CW, and even TV Land surprising viewers with killer content, you may not know where to start in the search for your new favorite show. That's where this list comes in: The 10 Best Shows You Aren't Watching (Yet).

1. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend"

Schedule: Mondays 8/7c on The CW

The Golden Globe-winning show stars Rachel Bloom as Rebecca Bunch, a lawyer who leaves her sad and stressful life in New York for a chance at happiness in West Covina, CA. Yes, the same West Covina where her ex-boyfriend Josh lives, but it's not like she moved there for him. (Right?) The show features on-point musical numbers, classic jokes, and super-real looks at real issues like depression, family responsibilities, and being terrible at yoga. (Think: Grown-Up Lizzie McGuire)

2. "Angie Tribeca"

Schedule: Mondays 9/8c on TBS

"Angie Tribeca", created by Steve Carell (Michael Scott from "The Office", anyone?) and his wife Nancy, has to be one of the goofiest shows on TV. It's a blatant spoof of shows like "Law and Order: SVU" and "Chicago PD", with a pun and sight-gag-based sense of humor a la classic comedies like "Airplane!". A must-watch if you appreciate the majesty of Rashida Jones (Ann Perkins!) and a bunch of really good dad-jokes.

3. "iZombie"

Schedule: Tuesdays 9/8c on The CW

Rose McIver plays Liv Moore, a doctor-turned-zombie who now makes her living as a medical examiner for the city of Seattle. When a murder victim comes into the morgue, Liv eats their brain and helps detectives find their killer. The catch? Her zombie status is a big, bad secret, and she'd do just about anything to keep it that way.

4. "The Grinder"

Schedule: Tuesdays 9:30/8:30c on FOX

Dean Sanderson (Rob Lowe, a.k.a. Chris Traeger!) is an actor who leaves his smash hit law drama TV show "The Grinder" to move home to Boise, Idaho. It's there that he decides to become a real lawyer at the family law firm, despite having no actual experience or education. It's hilarious to watch a melodramatic character attempt to take on "real life" in this family-focused comedy.

5. "Superstore"

Schedule: Mondays 8/7c on NBC

The show chronicles the behind-the-scenes happenings at, well, a superstore (called Cloud 9, similar to Wal-Mart), mostly from the perspective of new employee Jonah (Ben Feldman) and his seasoned coworker Amy (America Ferrera). It's laugh-out-loud funny and ridiculous, a little bit like "The Office" but without the mockumentary feel, with unique and diverse characters you'll have to see to believe.

6. Last Man on Earth

Schedule: Sundays 9:30/8:30c on FOX
(currently on hiatus, though episodes are available to binge online & OnDemand)

Phil Miller thought he was the last man on earth after a plague wiped out the earth's population of just about everything. Over time, he'd discovered that this isn't the case, and now lives with a small band of his fellow survivors in this quirky and witty comedy starring SNL alum Will Forte.

7. "Telenovela"

Schedule: Mondays 8:30/7:30c on NBC

Eva Longoria stars in this comedy set behind the scenes of a telenovela, or Spanish-language soap opera. Ana Sofia Calderon (Longoria) is a pampered actress who loves her job... until the network hires her ex-husband to co-star and real soap opera drama ensues.

8. "Master Of None"

Schedule: A Netflix original — season 1 is available to stream

Show co-creator Aziz Ansari (wow, this list is a who's-who of "Parks & Rec" alumni) stars as Dev Shah, a commercial actor working toward a film career in New York City. The show tackles all kinds of unique issues, from casual dating to diversity in show business to life as a first-generation American.

9. "Playing House"

Schedule: New episodes return to USA network this summer, but other eps are available online to binge

UCB alumni and comedy partners Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair star in this half-hour sitcom from the USA Network. Businesswoman Emma (St. Clair) moves to her hometown to help her newly single bestie Maggie (Parham) with her pregnancy and new baby. Also features "The Office"'s Zach Woods and "Key and Peele"'s Keegan-Michael Key.

10. "The Mindy Project"

Schedule: New episodes Tuesdays on Hulu+

Yeah, I said it. If you're like me, there's a chance you've fallen behind on the adventures of Mindy Lahiri since her move to Hulu+ at the beginning of this season, but it's better than ever. If you're not familiar with the sitcom, which stars the great Mindy Kaling, every episode is available to stream via Hulu+.

...of course, binge-watching great new television is always more fun with friends, so pop some popcorn, grab your roommates, and prepare for the live-tweeting session of a lifetime.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
