It's no secret that concerts are popular events, and while there are many people who love concerts and attend as many as possible there are also those who have not been to a concert. There are many people who do not understand concert culture and what the appeal is of a live show performed by musicians.
Concerts are special places. The atmosphere is very unique in that, for the most part, concerts are a place where a fan of music can be surrounded entirely by people that have a common love for the same music. There are few places that a person can be in a crowd of people, whether it be over twenty thousand people or two hundred people, and not feel out of place. Many people make lifelong friends at concerts, I certainly have, and it's an incredible thing to be able to meet someone by chance and have them become an irreplaceable person in your life.
A concert is a great way to learn about new musicians and bands that are not as well known. Many concerts have an opening act in addition to the main performer. The opening act is generally newer to the music scene and has not achieved a large level of success. Some of these opening groups go on to become extremely well known and if they begin their career opening at a venue they may go on years later to sell out arenas after gaining fans touring as an opening act. A great example of this would be the band 5 Seconds of Summer who opened for One Direction on two separate tours and now have a career that is taking them on headlining shows all over the world.
Performing artist Hayley Williams of Paramore once said, "Everyone can come here in music and be equal."
Memories are an essential part of life and many people make their best memories at a concert or a music festival. There are so many experiences to be had within the music world and so many opportunities to make joyous memories with people that are a special part of your life. There are many once in a lifetime experiences that come with concerts. For example, I saw Taylor Swift on her 1989 world tour Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. It was her second night in Nashville and, as she does at every show, she brought out a special guest. To me and my mother's surprise and elation Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones strutted out onto the enormous catwalk and they both launched into a duet of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." That was a night I'll never forget and it remains such a special memory to me.
Overall, a live show is a truly unique experience that, to me, is unparalleled. I have made so many friends at concerts that I'll be friends with for years and years to come. There have been so many one in a lifetime experiences that I have had thanks to live music and I have found that the music world is where I belong.
