Obama family,
Thank you.
Thank you for showing Americans what a true family should look like. You are pretty much the definition of 'relationship goals.'
Thank you for ending the Great Recession. You saved over three million jobs, cut taxes, and extended unemployment benefits, just to name a few.
Thank you for Obamacare. Because of you, 95% of all Americans now have health insurance.
Thank you for fighting for equality. The United States was founded on the idea that we are all created equal and, on June 26, 2015, we became one step closer to that by legalizing same-sex marriage.
Thank you for leading global efforts on climate change. Countries have agreed to limit carbon emissions and global warming by 2 degrees celsius annually. The United States also plans on reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 32 percent from the year 2005 to 2030.
Thank you for the creation of new jobs. Obama created over 17 million jobs after the recession and, since he took office in 2008, he has created over 22 million new jobs. That makes him the most job-creating president in U.S. history.
Thank you for shrinking the Federal budget deficit. The 2015 deficit was $439 billion, which is about 70% lower than it was when Obama came into office and it only continues to go down.
Thank you for lowering income taxes. Taxes are lower than they have been for 95% of taxpayers than they have been in over 50 years.
Thank you for being intentional. First Lady Michelle's initiative, Let's Move, has begun to decrease the trend of childhood obesity by partnering with schools and chain restaurants to give children healthier options, along with getting them up and moving. The Obamas also partner with organizations to support military families, help women balance families and careers, promote the arts, and encourage healthy living for families across the country.
Thank you for always putting your family first. The president himself said it best in his 2008 Father's Day speech, "What I've realized is that life doesn't count for much unless you're willing to do your small part to leave our children — all of our children — a better world. Any fool can have a child. That doesn't make you a father. It's the courage to raise a child that makes you a father."
Thank you for the past 8 years. It just won't be the same without you.
