There was a recent time when someone had asked me if I would rather money be spent towards a war in Iraq/Afghanistan fighting off the terrorists that struck this country into devastation and horror 15 years ago on September 11, 2001 or if I would rather that money be spent on a "free" education for the people that can't afford it.
With talk about "feeling the Bern" for Bernie Sanders as the next President of the United States comes along the controversial conversation or discussion of a "free" education. Please get this straight: Nothing is free. Everything worth value in life takes hard work and effort and I am truly sick of people thinking that it's OK for taxpayers to pay for this so-called "free" education for the people that can't afford it. It's the unfortunate and sad truth that the American Dream is no longer of such great value and that America has just become lazy and people will take whatever free handouts they can get.
To answer the question that was posed to me:
My family alone lost eight people on that horrific day back in 2001. That's just eight people that my family knew of the three thousand killed and the more than six thousand injured. In fact, the death toll from the attacks continues to grow as thousands of emergency workers are being diagnosed with cancer related to 9/11. I think I can speak for thousands when I say I never met family and friends because that opportunity was taken away from me by those terrorists. I do not believe in terrorism. I do not believe that it's OK for anyone to come to this country or any country for that matter, via train, plane or car, etc. and use force or violence to coerce the government and the civilian population. I believe as a nation, it is important for us to regain strength and fight back. That being said, I would spend money on the United States Armed Forces any day to protect this beautiful country, the freedom and rights we are entitled to as citizens over putting it towards a "free" education for those who can not afford it. Please don't get me wrong, because I do believe that an education is important, but what value is a college diploma going to hold if it all of a sudden becomes "free?"
I feel as though an education should be worked for and that it shouldn't be a free handout. I don't believe that my parents, taxpayers who work on a daily basis to provide for my family, should have to pay extra taxes towards a "free" education for other people. Personally, I feel that this money should be put towards matters more serious, such as fighting for the freedom of this nation and protecting this country from tyranny in memory of all those who were lost on September 11, 2001.
To all the victims of 9/11, may you rest peacefully. God bless America.
