Ah, Thanksgiving Break. That wonderful time towards the end of the semester where you can finally come home and have a break from dorm room living and sub par dining hall food. This is a time to reunite with family and friends after a long, grueling three months of nonstop classes and homework. Here, my favorite group of #friends demonstrate this break.
Thanksgiving break often comes right at the correct time of the semester where all hopes of graduating are very questionable and having your life together is just out of the cards.
With that being said, there is no better solution than coming home to the people you love most. There is nothing better than reuniting with family you haven't seen in months, being able to catch up on all of the excitement of the semester so far, knowing there is nothing better than family.
In addition to family, the friends that are kept throughout your time away at college are special. The exhilaration of the reunion that has been in the works for the last three months has been building can be tangible, as you are a combination of being anxiously excited and eager to see each other.
Overall, there is nothing better than getting the squad back together. You hope that college has made you guys exceptionally cool and has lead you to thrive through life, but you know that is simply not true.
The night before Thanksgiving usually begins with friendly reunions of old friends and people from your town that you have no desire of seeing but you feel obligated to have conversations with, followed by excess drinking;
And of course, lots of food.
Once Thanksgiving day finally rolls around, it is time for endless preparation for the infamous Thanksgiving dinner. While everyone else is running around trying to prepare, you try to find little ways to assist with the cooking,
Your assistance never actually ends up helping anyone, therefore you are there to set the table and stand there to provide moral support as you supervise everyone else actually being productive in helping get the meal started.
The turkey comes out of the oven and you cluelessly observe while everyone makes a fuss over how nice and golden the turkey is or how great the stuffing that is cooked inside the turkey is going to taste.
Once family members start to arrive for the big day, you find yourself talking with many people, listening to their conversations, pretending to be interested or understand everything that is going on.
Without fail, one relative always manages to annually bring up your love life around holidays, questioning why you are still single and not dating anyone. This is a conversation you have no time for or are willing to listen to.
After what feels like an eternity of waiting around to eat, there is only one question on your mind.
Every year you tell yourself you are going to pace yourself and not eat too much at dinner so you can leave room for the endless dessert.
As much as you try, you always manage to still eat aggressive amount of both dinner and dessert. With that being said, you regret nothing.
Overall, it's a beautiful holiday, getting to spend time with the people you love most. It is a time to relax and unwind, and remember how blessed you are to have all that you do!
