My Thanksgiving Family

We can never predict what will happen, but we can predict who will do it.

Who doesn't love having time off work, school, or anything else to attend a wonderful family gathering to be surrounded by a bunch of crazy people you call family. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and sometimes I am thankful that Thanksgiving is only once a year. Between the screaming kids, many dinners, and the insane Black "Friday" shopping that we all know really falls on Thursday, we somehow still love attending this tradition. So here are some people you may see at your Thanksgiving family gathering...

The Independent Cook.

Whether it's grandma, mom, dad, or anyone else, the cook refuses to let anyone do anything important. This is a dictatorship, and if the turkey is not done by them, then is it really even Thanksgiving?

The Animal Dresser.

This never seems to only be a one-holiday tradition. Every family has that one person who must dress their cat, dog, or even their fish bowl decor, it must happen in order to be a proper holiday.

The Outfitter.

If you claim to not have a crazy uncle, you would not be a truth-er. Now, I'm not saying that your crazy uncle is the one who would dress up for Thanksgiving, but I'm also not saying he wouldn't. We all have enough questionable relatives to expect this from someone at some point.

The "Hunter."

At least one family member will make one joke about how turkeys are hiding because it's Thanksgiving. You will just have to play along and fake laugh...every...time.

The Over-eater.

I can't even lie, this one is the description of myself, and you can't pretend that this is not you either.

The Designer.

Now, this is typically one of the kids, but I have been know to do some turkey hands myself. Don't judge, you have to.

The Impatience One.

She/He hovers over the cooks like a vulture waiting for its prey to die so it can feed.

The Fool.

I just don't even know how to explain this one, but I'll show you with a GIF.

The Black Friday shopper.

They sit at the table eating dinner with their coat on and a bat in their hand, ready to run soon at that clock hits and make it to that sale for that amazing "deal" that you just can't get anywhere else.

The Regretters.

After all the family members and all the craziness, we all end up in the same place. It's that place of regret because we simply ate enough food to feed an army and now we have taken on a new form.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
