It seems as if we forget the little things in life and how grateful we should be for them. Thanksgiving is this week and it's important to know what you're thankful for and not get so caught up in the shopping chaos. It's a time to spend with your family, friends, or any other loved ones. It's time to take a step back and realize what we're missing.

Being thankful is something taken for granted. We don't think about the little things and what an impact they truly have on us. If you are not sure what to be thankful for, here are a few ideas but there are many more things you can be thankful for.

You can be thankful for being born in the United States. Although, we are in a bit of chaos at the moment, our country is still free and we are not in war like many other countries around the globe. Be thankful for the free schooling the U.S. offers for our youth and the opportunities we are given to freely choose our careers. You can be thankful for free commerce and having Black Friday and Cyber Monday to get some of the best deals of the year at retail stores. Then there's freedom of speech as well as the right to protest that we can all be thankful for unlike some other countries that monitor their citizens. You don't just have to be thankful for political reasons but there's also many personal things to be thankful for too.

Being thankful for family and friends is very common but there are many reasons as to why you can be thankful for them. You can be thankful for them because of their unconditional love, for home cooking, and someone to talk to when there is no one else there. Then there's other things to be thankful for such as sports.

You may not often think about it but being able to watch sports, play them and coach them is a huge privilege. It's great to be thankful for the American past times such as football, baseball and basketball. You can also be thankful for the ability to play sports and what you want play.

Lastly, you can be thankful for the basic things you need to live. Water and food is something many take for granted. Also a place to live, being able to breathe and see or speak is something to think about when giving thanks. There's also social media and being able to have a computer or a phone to be thankful for.

There are many things you can be thankful for and these are just a few ideas. Thanksgiving is a time to take a step back and realize what you have. Don't think about getting ready for Christmas until the day after. Spend the day with loved ones and remember to not forget the things you have.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
