"It was my father who taught me to value myself. He told me that I was uncommonly beautiful and that I was the most precious thing in his life." - Dawn French
Someone who I can always count on to be there for me: my dad. A helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, and most importantly, he’s my best friend. I have no clue what I would do without him.
Of course my father has done all the typical dad stuff. From teaching me how to ride a bike, teaching me to play sports, how to drive a car, and attempting to help me with my homework (sorry Dad neither of us are that great at math), he always believed in my abilities and never gave up. Even if I was not the best at something, he would remind me to give it my all and no matter what happened he was proud of me for putting my best effort forward.
Like most dads, my father is very protective over my sister and I. I am my dad’s baby girl and he would always try to protect me. When he couldn’t keep me out of harm’s way, my dad vowed to take care of me anyway possible. When I suffered from a medical injury, my dad was always there to take care of me. From driving me to my hospital eight hours away, taking me to therapy seven days a week, and dealing with my not-so-happy moods along the way, my dad was always there for me. I cannot thank him enough for his support and patience through a difficult time in my life.
My dad always knows what to say when I’m upset. From giving me the male perspective of things, reminding me that I deserve the best, and telling me how great I am, I can thank my dad for tons of advice throughout my life. My dad always makes me feel like the most important girl in the world and I know he would not want me to feel like any less. I know I can call him anytime, night or day, just because I need to talk.
I might pretend he’s not that funny, but dad jokes will always brighten my mood. For those post-breakup, failed two exams kind of days, my dad always has a stupid joke that can put a smile on my face.
The most important thing about my father is that he loves my sister and me more than anything. My dad always wants what is best for my sister and me. He has worked his butt off to provide a great life for us and I will always be thankful of that. I wouldn’t be the same person today without the love and support from my father.
People may come and go in my life, but I will always have my dad. He's more than just my father, he's my best friend. Someone who I know I can always count on.
Happy Father’s Day Daddy. I know I don’t thank or remind you enough, but you are truly the most amazing father. I hope one day my kids are blessed with an incredible dad like you. Xo
