Thank you. I have said this word over a million times in my life. I never gave it much thought though. Sure we all say thank you but how many of us truly are thankful?
Thank you has become my mantra. I want to thank anyone and everyone that has ever been a part of my life. I am thankful for my parents, who have raised me and support me in everything I choose to do. I am thankful for my sisters for always being able to put a smile on my face and challenge me when I need to be. I am thankful for my friends who always have my back no matter what, no questions asked. I am thankful for my grandparents, my aunts, uncles, and cousins, my sorority, my teachers, my yoga instructor, my dog (especially my dog), and everyone that I have ever crossed paths with. In some way, you have helped me grow and become who I am.
It is easy to be thankful for these people though. They have all been there for me and made me feel better at some point in time. The people that are hard to be thankful for, but are some of the most important, are the people that have knocked you down. I am thankful for the people who have pushed me down. Without them, I would have never been hurt, never felt pain, I would have never been able to learn how to rise above it. You guys are the ones who have truly made me stronger, made me tougher, and made me much more able to take things on. And because of that, thank you.
The only thing certain in life is that there is change. Change is constant. We don’t always like it, but it never stops. The world changes every second of every day, making us change too. Be thankful for change; don’t try to fight it, because you will never win. Without it, we wouldn’t be who we are. Although it may seem horrible at first, don’t worry, because change will come again, and it may be great. I have had many changes in my life this past year, and even more are coming. They have made me smile, laugh, cry, and scream, but I am thankful I was able to experience it all. Be happy that things are changing.
Be thankful for your life. It’s the only one you have. Don’t be afraid of change, embrace it. Let love into your life; it will keep you going. Be as welcoming to pain as you are to happiness, because in the end, it makes you who are. Be PROUD of that. And most importantly say thank you. Say thank you to everyone, scream it at the top of your lungs, and adopt it as your mantra. Be thankful and mean it.
