College: the place where I met my other half. The one who calls me to make sure I got home safely, shoots me a text every time they make a pit stop at Starbucks, and makes dinner dates a priority. The one who is just a phone call away, or even already waiting for me in my apartment when I get home after a long day. My significant other, you might ask? Not a chance. I'm talking about no other than my best friend. More specifically, the person I met in college who has not only changed me for the better, but also been there every step of the way for the last four years. College has been a place where I've met many people. There is someone who I owe a million thank you's to, and that is you, best friend.
Thank you for getting to know me in four years better than people who have known me my whole life.
Thank you for deciding to be my friend the day we met. Well, the exact minute, actually.
Thank you for letting me vent about my hometown friends even though you don't know them. I appreciate the mental lists you make about who we do and don't like even though you could probably care less.
Thank you for accepting the hometown friends that I have introduced to you as your own best friends.
Thank you for going out on Tuesdays with me.
And, thank you for staying in on occasional Fridays with me.
Thank you for memorizing everything from my Starbucks order to my favorite drunk food.
Thank you for watching vines over and over again with me and laughing like we've never watched them before.
Thank you for never getting annoyed when I ask for help on which picture to post on Insta. And which caption, of course.
Thank you for tagging me in TSM pictures on Insta and not getting offended when I tag you.
Thank you for participating in the group text (and having our own separate text which is just as great as the group).
Thank you for getting lunch with me on Saturday mornings after a long night out when I look shambley.
Oh, also thanks for always picking me up on Saturday mornings when I am shambley.
Thank you for documenting all the crazy things I do.
Thank you for being the star of my Snapchat stories.
Thank you for sending me screenshots of things we deem important.
Thank you for tagging me in pointless videos on Facebook to distract from studying.
Thank you for studying with me when we finally get our acts together.
Thanks for always bringing snacks to the library.
And, thanks for ordering excessive amounts of Mexican food to the library with me.
Thank you for going out with me even when you'd rather stay in.
Thank you for being there the first time I got sick at college, even if you slid everything under the door in fears of getting sick yourself.
Thank you for coming over in your pj's to tell me about your night.
Thank you for pushing me outside of my comfort zone.
Thank you for all of the craziness you've brought me.
Thanks for justifying that it's not me who is crazy, just everyone else.
Thank you for eating unacceptable food with me at unacceptable times.
Thank you for watching endless amounts of Netflix series with me in order to avoid real life responsibilities.
Thank you for supporting me- even when we both know it's the wrong decision that I'm now making for the sixth time.
Thank you for telling me what I need to hear.
Thank you for jamming out to throwbacks with me.
Thank you for all of the road trips with no particular destination.
Thank you for dressing up for theme parties with me.
Thank you for always saying "I wish you were here, UGH!" on the rare occasions we aren't together.
Thank you for being the puzzle piece that I never knew was missing.
Thank you for laughing about how ugly I used to be.
Thank you for going back and commenting on my Facebook pictures from 2011 even though you didn't know me then.
Thanks for spotting me when I forget my wallet.
Thanks for the 'like' on everything I post on social media.
Thanks for taking candids with me.
Thanks for always being up for an adventure. By adventure, I mean anything from a night out to seeing how long we can binge watch Disney movies without leaving bed.
You see, the chances of me meeting you at college were inevitable. The chances of you becoming my other half were one in a million. To you, I am forever thankful.
