Life was so much easier when we were children and had no idea what our world actually was. You would make friends by simply sharing your crayons with them, and then before you knew it you were best buddies forever. Growing up I had several friends, but those friends would come and go, so I never got to experience that "best friend since preschool" feel. Believe it or not, I actually use to be a very shy girl, and this caused me to have problems with making friends growing up.
You think that making friends would get easier as you reach adulthood, but that is not the case. Your friends get new lives; they move to different cities, a few fall into relationships or jobs that take up all of their time, and your own life becomes tangled and exasperating. As we grow, we get further into our heads about the judgments of others, or the simple thoughts they may have about us which leads us to be more careful and tentative when choosing new friends.
The last year of my college career I met so many amazing people that are now still in my life. But there is one in particular whom picked me off my feet when I was near rock bottom and this article is a thank you to her.
Thank you for always being there for me, even when i'm at my worst. Through the fights with my family, the heartbreaks and the silly drama with our friends, you have always known how to cheer me up whether that be giving me a hug or taking me out for a "few" drinks.
Thank you for making me a better person. Its not everyday you find someone whom will tell you what you really need to hear. It may not seem like it, but I appreciate every word of criticism you give me, even if its telling me I look like a mess. I have become a kinder, more agile and happier person since meeting you.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your family. I feel as though I have a second family because of you, and I know your family will always be there for me just like mine will be there for you. You are not just my bestie, but my sister.
Thank you for being such an inspiration to my life. You are one of the strongest, independent, caring and selfless people I have ever met and you're one of the few people I truly look up to.
Thank you for making so many of my memories ones that will last a lifetime. Our small road trips to our spontaneous vacations and of course our legit potluck movie nights I would not take back for the world.
Thank you for putting up with me. Some how you have never given up on me, no matter how bizzare I can get. You have never judged me when I talk to the same guy over and over again. You think that my weird sense of humor is hilarious and always seem to join in on the laughing. You continuously let me have the aux cord, even though I know you hate some of my music. You have stayed in on nights you have wanted to go out, just because I was upset or not feeling well. For all of this, I am so grateful.
Thank you for giving me these reasons, and a million more to be thankful for.
Love you sis,
Your Best Friend
