As the school year has officially come to end, I have found myself reflecting on the amazing professors I have had during my time at Transy. I think about their passion, their drive, and their commitment to my learning and realize how lucky I am to have them in my life. Being a teacher is no easy feat, as I will one day know from experience. I want to say thank you to all of these amazing individuals out there in the world.
Thank you for your dedication, both in the classroom and outside of it. I know how much work goes into creating lesson plans, designing projects and rubrics, and grading papers. I know your work doesn’t end when the school day is over. Your job is 24 hours a day. You constantly think of ways to improve your classroom and help each individual student.
Thank you for caring so much about my personal success and for always going the extra mile. I know you were on your 10 th hour of grading, but you still took the time to give personal feedback on what I can improve on. I know how tired you are, but you stayed up for 30 more minutes to respond to each and every students’ journal entry. The passion and love you have for your students is beautiful and admirable.
Thank you for pushing me to be my best and keeping me accountable for my mistakes and laziness. I know I’ve missed more classes than I’m supposed to, yet you come to talk to me about what’s going on before giving up and losing interest in me. You talk to me like I am your own child and are genuine in everything you say. You care about me as a human being and aim to help me grow into a better person and student. I am not just a number to you. I am an individual with feelings and strengths and weaknesses and you show me how much you care each and every day.
Thank you for choosing this profession. I know it is never easy and I know you have days that you hate everyone and want nothing more than to quit. I know the hours pile up and the exhaustion sets in, but I thank you for continuing to get up each and every day. I thank you for your sacrifices you have had to make and for the hardships we students give you. Thank you for dealing with our attitudes and our excuses and inspiring us to get our lives together. I know we can be a handful, but you control your classroom with such ease and grace. I wholeheartedly thank you for your love, compassion, and patience in guiding me on my path to find myself and my future.
