During this time of year, people tend to express how thankful they are for one another. This may be a small gesture such as bringing them a cup of coffee or even just a simple text expressing their gratitude. Whatever it may be, it is important to tell those around you how thankful you are for them and how they have impacted your life.
While although I always do this with my friends and family, I never stopped to thank the people I once knew but are not in my life anymore. While we may not speak for various reasons, death, distance, fights, I am still thankful for every moment they were in my life. They truly have molded me into the person I am today and I would not be who I am without having known them.
So here’s to you:
Hey old friend,
Thank you. Thank you for making me laugh when all I wanted was to cry. Thank you for being there for me even on my dark days. Thank you for dealing with my annoying laugh and stupid jokes. Thank you for being a part of my life even if it was only for a short while. To say I miss all the people I no longer talk to would be a lie, but I do miss some. I wonder how my life would be different if we still talked. It definitely is weird going through some phases of my life without them. There are some people I never thought I wouldn’t be close with, but life happens and we all move our separate ways. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t check up on their social media pages every once in a while just to make sure everything is going well.
I am very happy of where I am in life, and I truly do believe my life has been impacted by every person who has wandered in and out of it. So thank you. Thank you to all of those who are no longer in my life, but changed me for the better.
Happy Thanksgiving,
An Old Friend
