No one in the world holds a candle to my mom. She's beautiful and loving, strong and capable, and those traits are only matched by how selfless and genuine she is. It seems everyone just dulls in comparison to her because she's that amazing. I am truly lucky to have her as my mother, my role model, and my absolute best friend. Mom, thank you for loving me even when I'm temperamental. Thank you for always being there. Thank you, Mom, for raising me in your image; I can only hope to measure up to you someday.
And though I'd like to think I thank you enough for everything you do, I know I probably don't. I thought I'd just name a few of the many small but great things you do for me every day that I just might forget to thank you for.
Thank you, Mom, for:
1. Telling me I don't look good in that shirt
2. Being an obnoxious backseat driver when I'm at the wheel (because you care)
3. Listening to me complain about life's turmoil
4. Forgiving me when I've been a bitch to you
5. Singing with me in the car
6. Liking all of my Facebook posts and pictures
7. Liking all of my friends' Facebook posts and pictures that I'm tagged in because you think they're actually mine
8. Letting me teach you how to type on your iPhone with two hands instead of with just one finger
9. Hugging me when I need it (and even when I don't)
10. Reminding me to call relatives on their birthdays
11. Encouraging my sweet tooth (because you have one, too)
12. Calling me to say goodnight when I'm away at school
13. Telling me when it's cold outside so I know how to dress
14. Eating an entire order of garlic knots with me in less than three minutes
15. Telling me I look beautiful even when I have a huge zit on my face
16. Always answering the phone when I call you
17. Forgiving me when you call and I don't pick up
18. Staying neutral when I argue with my sister and brother
19. (But admitting to having been on my side after the fact)
20. Always being up for Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts
21. Always telling me you love me before you hang up the phone
22. Insisting I haven't gained any weight even when the scale tells me otherwise
23. Still holding my hand or grabbing my arm out of habit when we cross the street
24. Thinking exactly what I'm thinking all the time
25. Taking silly pictures with me
26. Being the comical star of my Snapchat stories
27. Cuddling with me in your bed
28. Assuring me that I'm not dying, I just have a cold
29. Being as close to perfect as someone could possibly be
30. And still loving me for all of my flaws
I love you, Mom.
