Mom, this one is for you.
Since it is May and Mother’s Day is here, I thought I would dedicate this article to my mom. She is everything from my best friend to my worst enemy at times but my respect and love for her is indescribable. I believe that she deserves more than just one day of recognition out of the year because of how much she does for my family and the community every day. Of course, this not only goes for my mom alone but for all moms out there. You all rock.
It’s amazing how much I rely on my mom. She raised me to be a loving and caring person but to also stand my ground when situations don’t go my way. I know we fight sometimes and get on each other’s nerves but that really only brings us closer in the end. She is too good at keeping her distance and then I am the one to come back and talk to her, only to pretend like nothing even happened. It’s times like those where I have learned that the little bumps in the road do not matter as long as I have my mom by my side.
There is so much that I can say about my beautiful mother and how amazing she truly is but instead there are two words that can sum all of it up at once. Thank you.
Thank you for never telling me that I couldn’t do something.
Whenever I wanted to try a new sport or wear something goofy to school, she never questioned it. If I said I wanted to be an astronaut she would just tell me to dream big and work hard and that I can achieve anything.
Thank you for teaching me to stay humble.
This goes without saying as being one of the most important lessons my mom has taught me. Never brag or flaunt what you have even if it is just a fancy crayon. Material items do not matter because family and friends are everything and that I am just an average gal like everyone else. That advice has stuck with me to this day.
Thank you for being my No. 1 fan.
My mom spent years leaving work early to watch me play soccer, run track and even cross country in any type of climate just to cheer me on. She even came to the away games and meets without hesitation. That means more to me than I can express.
Thank you for letting me try new things (even if they didn’t work out in the end).
I remember being in eighth grade when I asked my mom if I could become a vegetarian and I was so nervous because I didn’t know how she would react. To my surprise she decided to take on that journey with me without reluctance. To this day almost six years later my mom and I have not eaten meat and it has been much easier with her by my side.
Thank you for laughing with me or just laughing at me.
I appreciate how much my mom accepts my weirdness because we both make each other laugh even if we are making fun of each other. We are two peas in a pod and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Thank you for keeping me sane.
I know I was a pain in the butt especially as a little kid when it came to worrying about everything and anything but she always comforted me and told me I would be okay. Even to this day I still come to her with the same problems and she always know how to calm me down and make me feel better.
Thank you for being my rock through all of life’s obstacles especially as a teenager in high school and now in college.
If I have a paper due in two hours and I ask my mom for help even though she has work to do she always finds a way to give me some pointers. Whenever I am having a rough day she knows what to say to cheer me up and always has the best advice when it comes to problems with friends. She always has been and always will be my best friend even when I am away at school.
Thank you for being you.
Words cannot describe how fortunate I am to have such an amazing and supportive mom. She is everything to me and I could go on and on about her but it would take me years to express all that I have to say. I wish I could give her the world for all that she has sacrificed and done for my family but that wouldn’t even make a dent in what she deserves. Hopefully someday I can grow up to be like her.
Thank you for everything mom, I love you so much.
Happy Mother’s Day!
