To the people who come and go,
I don’t think it’s often that you get a "thank you" from someone who isn’t a part of your life anymore, but I think that’s where some people get it wrong. You are still a part of my life. Without you, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Every one of you has brought something to the table in my life, and every one of you has left a mark. We may not speak anymore, but you are still a part of my life in some way.
I look back on all of the people whom I have shared many wonderful memories with, and it’s always the ones who I no longer speak with that stick out like a sore thumb. You have seen me laugh, cry, get angry — you have seen me at my worst, and at my best. I know that your time in my life was short-lived, but you have seen me at my core.
It’s people like you who I truly believe come into my life at the moment I need you most. It’s people like you who have created the biggest impact in my life. I like to think that God sends you in when I need your friendship and your care the most, and once you’ve served your purpose, it’s time to move on. There are certain things you have taught me that I use on people who are still a part of my life.
To the ones who come and go — you are my life lessons. Every one of you has taught me something different, and I can look back at the times you were in my life and see how much I have grown since then because of you. Some of you have hurt me, some of you have made me smile — but each one of you has left a part of you in my life. The lessons you have taught me and the new aspects of life you have showed me have made me better equipped to face the world as time goes on. Regardless if it was good or bad, and regardless of the reasons we no longer speak, I am thankful for the time you have served in my past.
Whether you were an ex, a friend, a colleague — each and every one of you has made me into the person I am today. With your friendship came lessons, and although people come and go, those lessons will stay with me forever. Without your existence in my life, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wouldn’t be who I am today. I am able to take the lessons I have learned from you and apply it to the people who have stayed in my life. It's a growing process. I think the people who come and go in your life are often overlooked and taken for granted. We may no longer be speaking because of a disagreement, or because it faded, or because we both chose to – regardless of the reason, thank you. Just because I've lost you along the way, doesn't mean you're important to me.

Love Always,
A friend from your past
