Thank you for your commitment.

Ever since we were young teenagers, it always just felt right to talk about our future, to assume we’ll always be each other’s favorite. We made plans for months to come, and years to come, and whenever something exciting arose, we knew we would want the other to share it with. Your commitment to me and to our relationship was always obvious, not just to us, but to all around us. Your unwavering support and presence in my life has made me so happy and a better person, and I thank you for always being there.

Whenever I fall into a slump, you are right there to pick me up. If I begin to complain excessively about a trivial matter, you humble me. You remind me just how blessed I actually am, with an opportunity for education, a house to live in, food to eat, and people around me that support and love me. Not everyone has that, and I appreciate your gentle reminders that I am extremely lucky. And whenever I fall unmotivated, searching for reason in my assignments or tasks of the moment, you encourage me to keep going, to give it a shot. You remind me that if I am working as hard as I can and doing the best I can, you will support me and He will take care of the rest.

Because we have been dating since we were young, we have grown up together quite a bit. We shared so many aspects of middle and high school, both good and bad, and I can always reminisce and know you will laugh right with me. Whether it’s looking back at pictures from when we were 13 and I had an interesting fashion sense (hello, denim skirts, bright Converse, and heavy eyeliner) or when we were 17 and going to junior prom with all of our friends. Every big milestone I’ve experienced in the past few years, you have been a part of. All the bellyaching laughs, sushi dates, walks in the park, and studying for tests will forever resonate as my most treasured memories of our teen years.

As we move forward, I know I can count on you to be by my side - supporting, encouraging, loving, and caring for me. I can’t wait for everything to come. I thank you so much and I treasure you.
