Hey Mom,
First off, I miss you. I know I don't say that a lot while I'm at school. I also don't tell you how thankful for you I am enough. Or how living in a house full of girls my whole life has impacted me, and I mean that in a good way.So here's to you mom, for all you have done for me while I lived with you and now.
Thank you for staying so strong. I honestly don't know how you have managed to get through everything you did. Most kids hate their parents for getting a divorce. But I'm not. Obviously, you and dad were not meant to be, and that had to be hard for you. But you stayed strong through that for us. You stayed strong through every single thing you had to go through. And I am sorry you had to go through so much as a single parent. It was hard watching you hurt all those times. But nothing is as great as seeing who you have grown to be through my life. Parents talk about watching their kids grow, but I also got to watch you grow too. Thank you for getting through everything in your life and mine. Thank you for being the strongest role model in my life.
Next I would like to thank you for my favorite thing: having my back. Of course, that is the motherly thing to do, but you do it as a friend also. Since it has always just been a house full of girls, we grew to become each other's best friend. You have my back and I have yours. Thank you for texting people for me when they made me cry in middle school. Thank you for always wiping my tears away. Thank you for listening to me complain about every single thing ever, and sorry for complaining about everything. But I also did the same for you. Thank you for being straight up honest with your advice and letting me know which guys you do not approve of at all. And you are always right about those d-bags. Speaking of which, thank you for helping me through my break ups. Thank you for leaving work early to come pick me up from the bathroom floor crying. Thank you for understanding how great retail therapy is. Because I got to watch you go through heartbreak, I knew I could get through it too. Thank you for being able to read my emotions. I may not like to talk about what is really bothering me, but you always know when something is. And then you try your best to make it better. You always had my back for everything I have had to go through, and still have my back three hours away.
Thank you for just being you. Thank you for just being my mom. Thank you for being freaking hilarious and you are straight up with everyone. I like how you talk to me as a friend not as a superior. Thank you for making me and everyone laugh, even though it may not always be with you. Thank you for doing what has been best. Thank you for being over-protective. I know you had to because you were doing it alone. You had to make your own rules, you had to decide on how to punish me all my yourself. But thank you for that. Having you as a single mother has taught be how to be interdependent, strong, compassionate, and taught me how to not take any man's crap. "So much of what we know about love, we learn from our mothers." Thank you for everything you've done as a single parent, mom.
