Dear Rachel,
This past week I was fortunate enough to meet you in NYC. Back in March, I was also able to attend your first headlining tour in NYC and after each event, I fall in love with you even more. I have been listening to your music for a while now and your latest album, "Wildfire," has inspired and touched me in so many ways. I could go on forever about things I would like to thank you for. You have touched my life in such a beautiful and unique way and I'm always going to be so grateful.
Thank you for being so funny and loose. Whether it's an interview or meeting fans, you are always cracking jokes and lightening up the mood. You make sure to put a little sarcasm and humor into everything and I just adore that.
Thank you for giving me and my sisters something to bond about. Whether we drive around town blasting "Stand By You," buy front row tickets to your concert, or wake up at 3 a.m. to meet you in the city, you always bring us together. "Better Place" and "Stand By You" will always be our songs.
Thank you for being so kind. In your interviews and now through my own personal experience with you, I have seen just how generous, kindhearted and warm you are. You have such a special way of talking to your fans and making them feel important and comfortable. You comforted me when I was crying and you hugged me so tight to make me feel better. You are also so generous and giving and I will always admire that about you.
Thank you for being so honest. Behind every single one of your songs is a personal story that inspired you to write. These stories are what make your music so raw and relatable. You always seem to put my exact feelings into your music without even knowing and there is something so special about that. You never fail to have a song that describes my feelings in the most perfect way and I just love that about your style.
Thank you for teaching people, especially girls, to love themselves unconditionally. When I feel self conscious or anxious, I always think about your confidence and strut. You remind me that it's OK to be different and that absolutely no one is perfect. The confidence you have and show inspires me to love myself regardless of my flaws.
And most importantly, thank you for teaching me to never, ever, ever give up on my dreams. Through your inspiring story behind "Fight Song," I have learned to keep pushing myself, even when I feel like giving up. There were so many times in my life where I felt I wasn't good enough to make my dreams come true but you and your music helped me through my self doubt. If you can fight for 15 years of your life, then so can I.
I love you so much and I'm so grateful I stumbled across your music. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here for me, even if you physically weren't here. Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing music. I'll see you soon.
"And I don't really care if nobody else believes, 'cause I still got a lot of fight left in me."
