Dear sister,

Thank you.

Thank you for being my biggest supporter. You have attended all of the biggest milestones in my life thus far. From helping me get ready for prom to cheering me on at my biggest sports events, you were there. You supported me in all my biggest decisions, whether you agreed with them or not. You supported me when I dated the guy that you had a bad feeling about and you were there for me when he broke my heart. You’re always right. I have no doubt that you will be by my side on the rest of my big days, too.

Thank you for being adventurous with me. When mom won’t let me do something, you are there ready to go break the rules. You have taken me on crazy trips and to concerts I will never forget. You have helped me experience life in a fun way. It is great to know if I am feeling a spontaneous road trip, all I have to do is call you. Between chasing waterfalls, getting our ears secretly pierced and joining your sorority, you are the adventure in my life.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on. Life is full of uncertainties and heartache. Whenever I am feeling down and out about something, I know you will always be there for me. You have listened to me cry about boys, friends and the rest of our family. You always listen to everything I have to say before giving me the advice that I need, but sometimes don’t want to hear.

Thank you for being the biggest pain growing up. Growing up, I thought of my self as the unluckiest person to have a sister like you. You teased me, you wouldn’t let me hang out with you and you never told me what a train wreck my hair was. You were always jealous that your friends and boyfriends liked me more than you, but that’s okay. All I wanted was for you to like me. Now that we are older, I have never felt so lucky to have you.

Thank you for being my best friend. I never dreamed that I would find my best friend and my person in you. No friend that I have ever made can compare to you. You understand me more than anyone. You are the definition of a perfect friend and I could not be any luckier that you are my sister.

Thank you for being you. People always ask me who my role model is. I racked my brain for a long time trying to decide between Diane Sawyer and Amy Poehler. In the end, I realized it was you. I have always dreamed of being just like you. I wanted to wear my hair like yours and wear your clothes (and I did when you weren’t home). I could not imagine a more perfect person to compare myself to. You are beautiful, inside and out. You are compassionate. You are caring. You are everything that I want to be. I am so lucky to have you and to look up to you. I am so happy that I am a slight (maybe cooler) version of you. I love you.

Love,

Your sister

I grew up with three older sisters. It was never boring and always full of laughs, tears and love. I could never imagine my life without the three biggest inspirations in my life. I aspire to be like the three of them. This is just my way of saying thank you to them. So, thank you guys. You are the greatest gift I have ever been blessed with. Today, tell your sister how much you love and appreciate them. Sometimes they need to be reminded of how amazing they are in your eyes.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
