A Thank You Letter to My Inspiration

Growing up, we all look for someone to inspire us, someone to help us to find ourselves, and to find where we belong in this world. I found my inspiration when I was 18 years old at my first internship. My boss was an inspiration to me then, and watching her success still inspires me today. I am thankful that life brought us together and I was able to learn knowledge for my future career from someone so unique. I am grateful for this internship experience I was granted and will always reflect on it to guide me as I proceed through the fashion field.

To the One Who inspired me,

I believe our paths simply crossed by fate; there were certain lessons I needed to learn that could only be properly taught by you. From the moment I met you I could feel the positivity radiating from your inner self into the world. You have a beautiful way of looking at the world that makes issues seem more miniscule and life less overwhelming. You’re at peace with yourself and the universe, which is why you have such a powerful nature. The way you carry yourself is truly admirable, you’re independent and don’t need someone else to be your backbone.

Even during the most devastating events you are able to come out of them with more strength. You have a strong faith that allows you to believe that these things happen for a reason. If things don’t work out a certain way, you understand that the outcome that does occur was meant to happen. Your patience is an absolute virtue. You know it takes time for great things to come together and you never rush into things.

You always encouraged me to follow my dreams even at times I felt discouraged. You believe in me and I feel your continual support every day. You’re business oriented which contributes to the amount of success you have attained. Luckily for me, I was able to learn these skills while interning for you. Fashion is a competitive field but you built yourself an empire and I hope I can be at least half as successful as you are. You put your heart into your work and your passion shows through all things you do.

You were my boss but you never made me feel inferior and rather as an equal. Some of the best conversations I have ever experienced were held with you. Your mind is unique and the words you have said to me I will hold on to forever. Your creativity is inspiring and a gift that not everyone has. The way you put yourself together says a lot about your free spirit. You make yourself a canvas and always create a masterpiece.

When I first met you I was only 18 years old and now two years later I still am reflecting on the impact you had on me then. You allowed me to come into the sanctuary you created and learn from a self-sufficient, knowledgeable, and determined mentor. I am more than appreciative for the time I was able to get to know you. You’re a remarkable person and have an impact on anyone you come in contact with. Your giving soul will always be remembered and applauded.

As I go through the different phases of my life I will always carry you in my heart. You have helped contribute to who I am today as well as where I am today. I now have someone I look up to and want to follow in the footsteps of, which helps challenge myself everyday. For all that you’ve done for me; I thank you.

Sincerely,

Victoria Barone

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
