Growing up, I always counted down the days until school was over and summer was here. But as I started packing to go home this year, I realized I didn't actually want to leave. Sure I'll miss the parties and the independence, that comes with college, but what I'll miss the most is my roommates. So since we're all going our separate ways this week, I thought I would write this to say thank you.
Thank you for never judging me. Whether I got three orders of nuggets at Cookout after a bad day, or danced around the living room singing at the top of my lungs, you understood and probably did it with me.
Thank you for always being my chauffeur. It didn't matter if it was a late night call at 2 a.m. or me just wanting a ride home because I didn't want to take the night bus. You were always there to come get me and usually pick up food along the way.
Thank you for laying on the couch all day. I watch TV probably a lot more than I should and you were always willing to put off your problems and binge watch Netflix with me. That's a true friend right there.
Thank you for listening to my problems. Boys, school, friends, I always had something to complain about you and you were always there to listen and give me my advice.
Thank you for being more entertaining than all my Netflix shows combined. If I was stressed out or just needed a distraction, I could always count on you to make me laugh and forget about all my problems.
Thank you for always pushing me. I'm not always motivated or willing to go the extra mile. But you are. And thanks to you I was much more productive this year than I ever have been.
Thank you for keeping me grounded. If I ever got carried away you were always there to bring me back to reality and remind me that life moves on.
Thank you for putting up with my mess. I'm not very organized. Or clean for that matter. And I appreciate you for not yelling at me or throwing my empty cups at me. Although sometimes you probably should've.
Thank you for being my away-from-home mom. You told me to do things when I didn't want to get off the couch, encouraged me to be more healthy, and told me to do my homework. And as annoying as this was at times, I needed it.
Thank you for always being up for Netflix and pizza. When I wasn't up for a party or to even leave the apartment, you were always there to order a pizza and keep me company.
Thank you for always letting me cry on your shoulder. Even if you didn't understand why I was crying, you were always there to comfort and support me. No judgement, no questions asked.
Thank you for always being hungry when I am. I felt a lot better about stuffing my face when I had someone to do it with me.
Thank you for letting me be me. You didn't always agree with or support my decisions, but you never held them against me.
Thank you for being a true friend.
Most of all, thank you for one of the best years of my life. We had our problems (who doesn't?) but I wouldn't trade this year with you guys for anything. And I'll always love apartment 202.
