Dear best friend,
We met each other on move in day. You lived only a few rooms down and you and your roommate at the time knew my roommate. The hallway was a mess. We were all discombobulated and our first encounter was brief, little did I know at the time that I would not have been able to survive freshman year without you.
The next morning, as I was saying goodbye to my mom and my roommate was getting things straightened out around campus, you and your roommate stopped by my room and invited me to lunch. I was so sad to be leaving my mom and that lunch made things just a little bit easier, knowing that I had a new friend to help me through.
Within the next few weeks we got closer and spent more time together. We had so much in common and bonded over gossip girl and grilled cheese sandwiches. When you didn't have a roommate for a little while, you even let me camp out in your room while mine was occupied.
From shower parties, to singing in the hallways and ordering Domino's late at night you slowly went from being my friend down the hall to one of the best friends I have ever had. You were always there when I needed to vent, cry or just laugh about something socially awkward that I did in front of the guy I liked, and I've always tried to give you the best advice that I could when you needed me. I promise I'll always be there for you.
Second semester, I had a very rough start. With the sadness that came over me, you were always there and stuck by me during the hardest time of my life.
We are too alike it's almost scary. I can't count how many times a day we say the exact same thing at the exact same time. We like the same foods, shows and music. Did you know that I wish I like cream cheese more than I actually do? We also balance each other out. You're organized and on top of everything. I'm usually a hot mess, but together we're each other's own personal cheerleaders.
For a short period of time, it was just the two of us. We stayed in almost every night. We got dinner together and hung out in my room, keeping our distance from the rest of the school for no particular reason besides stress and lack of patience. And still to this day, you will very rarely find one of us without the other. (Except for Tuesday's when you have class legit all day.)
Now we have a large friend group, who I love to death and am so happy to have found them. We go out more often and have lots of Fam dinners and parties. But one thing hasn't changed. We still make time for just us to complain about life, laugh at ourselves or just sit on our computers and not talk to each other for like an hour.
People say this all the time, but I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I do not know what I would do without you. In you, I have found a lifelong friend and I know I will always have someone to count on. Thank you, for being an amazing best friend, but most importantly, thank you for being you.
Love,
Your best friend. XOXO
