A Thank You Letter To My Mom
Gab Sisino

Dear Mom,

Something I haven't said to you enough over the past 19 years is thank you. My whole life, your main concern has always been me and, in case you didn't know it, I appreciate that a lot. Thanks for always being by my side through the tough times. Thank you for never hesitating to put everyone else before yourself. Thank you for giving me all of your good qualities (and even some of the not-so-good). Thank you for being my biggest supporter most of the time and for telling me how wrong I am when you're not.

In light of recent events, we've become closer than ever and even though you still drive me crazy on a daily basis, I can't thank you enough for just being there for me. It may seem corny, but you are truly my role model. I have never met anyone stronger or more capable of anything than you. You, in turn, made me stronger when I thought my life was falling apart.

In the past, we went through something that made our relationship what it is today. Although no one should ever have to go through that, I am grateful it happened. Throughout this time and still today, your main goal was to make sure my life stayed the same. You sacrifice a lot for me, and you don't even think twice about it. Even if I don't deserve it most of the time, you always make sure I get the best you can give me.

We may not always agree on things and yes, we have our moments where I just want to rip my hair out because of you, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. We're the same person and even though I resented hearing that as a kid, now it has new meaning. All the things you do inspire me in so many ways — your triathlons, your intelligence. Not so much your style, but hey, at least you try! Your "no bullshit" attitude tends to get me in trouble a lot, but I have the same attitude and I thank you for that too.

You've prepared me for how to deal with the world and any a**hole I may ever encounter. You have made me into the person I am today, and you went through a lot to have me in your life. I really hope I've been worth it to you. Just kidding of course I have, I'm perfect.

Love always,

Your Favorite Daughter in the Whole World

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
