An Open Letter To My Boyfriend, My Rock

"Imagine a future moment in your life where all your dreams come true. You know, it's the greatest moment of your life and you get to experience it with one person. Who's standing next to you?" (One Tree Hill)

If you're reading this, you know who you are. You're my best friend, as well as my boyfriend. I make a complete fool of myself around you and you're totally okay with it - even though I know you judge me just a tiny bit. Thank you for dealing with my singing and dancing, you do it too! You're the funniest, nicest, most out-going guy I've ever met, and you don't even have to try. Thanks for always laughing at my "jokes" even thought sometimes they aren't funny, but if you didn't laugh, we both know I would question why (it's just the relationship we have). I love how I can tell you absolutely anything and everything.

Thank you for putting up with my sassy ass and letting me vent about anything - literally anything. From complaining about that class that stresses me out so much to complaining about that girl in my class who annoyed me a little too much, you listen to all of it, no matter what it is. You're there for me whenever I'm having a rough day and instantaneously know how to change my mood and make everything ten times better.

What I love most about you is that you set goals, and once you set a goal you do absolutely anything to accomplish it and I admire that so much about you. You've done so much that has made me so proud of you already. From showing me that assignment you did in your class, which almost always leaves me a little jealous because I can't draw like you do. You always tell me "anyone can draw" which I argue isn't true..but I guess I'll let you win this time. You're going to accomplish so much in the future and you're going to make everyone as proud as I am of you.

Thank you, for the past 5 months, even though others thought we were dating for 5 years. You'll always be that kid I met at orientation for all of five minutes, and that's just the beginning of our story, you know how the rest goes. I can't wait to see what's in store for us, I know it'll be great.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
