Thank You For Being Every EIC's Dream Team, From A Very Thankful EIC
Ashley Denton

I would like to start off by saying I truly don't know how I got so lucky. You see, becoming an EIC (Editor-in-chief) of a team never crossed my mind, heck I never even thought about becoming president until I was offered the position. Yes, I was only president for three months and then promoted to an E.I.C, I had just gotten used to my role as president when asked to step up. In doing so I was never really told what to expect. I knew I would be editing articles and making them "pop" and "look pretty" but I never really knew how in depth it was, how you are the one in charge of making sure your team runs smoothly and that once you're in charge that its now your responsibility to schedule, and to make schedules for EVERYTHING regarding your team.

I thought I knew what I was getting myself into but I was in way over my head. I felt like I was just thrown into it and the training followed. I can honestly say I am blessed with what I think is the best team their possibly could be. I've been with odyssey for almost two years now and yes I may only have one or two of my "O.G's" on my team still but I couldn't be more thankful for them. My team has been built from the bottom up with what I think are only the best of the best (Thanks to my former E.I.C who literally built this team from nothing). The writers on my team have joined over the course of the past two years with the exception of a very select few who I am proud to call my O.G's.

Two years is a decent amount of time. You get used to the way things are run, everything is routine. When that routine is broken it can be stressful and it can be tough. When I stepped into this role I feel like our whole team changed. The routine was broken, and we had just lost the leader who built this team. The leader who connected us together, The leader who made us a team. With all of this change yes we lost a few writers on the way but we have also gained so many more!

To the ones who stayed I sincerely can't say thank you enough for bearing with me, for being so patient and understanding during this switch. You guys helped make this transition so smooth and I don't think you quite understand how grateful I am for that. Some of you are also older than me and have been on the team longer than I have and I will forever be so grateful for the respect that you all have shown to me, I know many people who would have stuck up their noses because someone younger than them was put into a position of authority and or management and you guys did no such thing. You all helped me through this and were so encouraging… and to the writers who have RECENTLY joined my team, trust me I could never forget about you. Thank you for showing me the new is not always scary, thank you for giving me a new perspective to look at the world with. I have learned so much about you all and from you all in such a short amount of time. Yes, you may be new to the team but you all fit in perfectly here on this team.

You all have made a major impact on my life in this short amount of time, from what started out as a group of strangers has turned into honestly a big family and I am so grateful for that. So finally, Thank You guys for being every E.I.C's dream and for just being so amazing.

I Love You Guys...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
