A Thank You Letter To My Sister
Odyssey

If life has taught me anything, it is that my sister will always be there. Even though we are polar opposites in most areas of life, fight over small things, and bicker- she is always there afterwards. Sisters are like a permanent best friend that will always be there throughout life. She has seen you at your lowest point (those middle parts and flare jeans) and has been by your side during graduations and everything in between.

To any sister that may be reading this, thank you.

Thank you for being right by my side when I decided to build a lemonade stand and for offering to make the lemonade. Thank you for being there when our parents were fighting and I needed someone to talk to so I could keep my mind off of it. Thank you for forgiving me when I conned you out of your money. Thank you for getting me McDonalds or Starbucks when I didn't even ask for it. Thank you for giving me that shirt. Thank you for being my travel partner when we go on vacations. Thank you for keeping my secrets. Thank you for being there when I need someone to talk to about my awful day at work. Thank you for going to that relative's house with me when I was dreading it. Thank you for going shopping with me on the weekends. Thank you for skipping out on plans to hang out with me. Thank you for driving us to random places. Thank you for splitting a nacho basket at McAlister's with me. Thank you for giving me VS coupons for free items. Thank you for FaceTime calls while I'm in my college apartment at night and I'm bored. Thank you for finding a Netflix show to binge watch with me. Thank you for letting me use your room as a play room. Thank you for doing crafts with me and taking our dog to the park. Thank you for being on my side even though I am wrong.

Thank you for being by my side in all aspects of my life. No one else in my life can say they have been through everything with me like you have. You make life way more interesting and I would not be able to make it through life without you. I wouldn't want to. You always put other people before yourself, and I think that is your best quality.

Thank you for all that you have done and all that I know you will continue to do. One day the futures we talked about when we were kids will come true and will unfold right in front of us. Our kids will be cousins that act like siblings and we can live right down the street from each other in a little beach town. They will experience the relationship we had growing up, and I can't wait for that.

I am thankful for you every single day and never forget that I am in your corner whenever you need me to be. I will never be able to repay you for all that you have done.

I love you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
