A Love Letter To My Bed

I'm not replacing you after eight, that's for sure.

Dear Bed,

Your cushions are like none other. When I lay my body down at night, I am instantly at peace. If I knew what a cloud felt like, I know you'd come close to comparison.

You are not just what dream are made of, but what creates my dreams as well. You are the reason I have the most pleasant dreams each night. If it weren't for you, I would never be able to pretend I'm in Disney World everyday.

You have been there for me during the ups and the downs. You were there supporting me when I cried myself to sleep. You were there for me when I laughed my heart out over some show on Netflix. You are my one true supporter.

You nurture me whenever I get sick. You hold my tissues and let me lay on you in pain. You allow me to spill my chicken noodle soup everywhere and still comfort me as I attempt to go to sleep.

We've been friends for years. They say to replace your mattress every eight year, but I refuse to let a good friend like you go. It's hard to come by someone you love, and I can't let you go now that I've found you.

They swear I can get another bed just like you, but nothing could ever replace you. Even if I found your exact twin, there would be something off just enough to make me miss you.

You're stuck with me forever, unless you get bedbugs. You getting bugs would be like me getting an incurable, deadly disease. I would want to comfort you, but at that point it'd be too late. I beg you to never get bedbugs because I don't think I'd be able to give you up easily.

Thank you for everything you've done for me over the years we've been together. Thank you for holding my cloths, allowing strangers to lay on you and so much more. You are an awesome friend.

Every day, I think about you. I think about coming home and laying down on you until I find peace again. You are my stress reliever and my comforter.

Here's to the future, pal. I look forward to the many more nights we share together.

Sincerely,

Someone who was way too tired when they wrote this.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
