39 Things We Forget

As a whole, there is so much we forget to do. Sometimes we even forget that we are human beings and that we are capable of doing so much more than we realize. These are a few things that are forgotten and should be remembered. These are also a few things that are forgotten and make life that much better.

1. Our keys, that’s when we have to jump through the window or call AAA.

2. Any and all birthdays until they are a day away.

3. Phone numbers, even sometimes our own.

4. Anniversaries – I feel like this is a big one for men.

5. Our phones, AKA our lives!

6. Money in our pockets before the clothes get washed.

7. Time – we never remember all the time we do or do not have.

8. Names of people we see once in a blue moon

9. Names of the family when you're pissed (In my family, it's Daihjon, Destinee, James, Tayiah, Jaiden, Bobby! Alina get over here, you knew what I meant!)

10. Friendships when we move from opportunity to opportunity.

11. Debit cards because wallets are just too organized.

12. Wallets because who can keep track of something that small.

13. Shoes because they never want to stay in a pair.

14. Clothing because they never end up where they are supposed to be.

15. Plans because one can only do so much.

16. How to match when in a rush because everything should be able to go together.

17. Homework – this one is self-explanatory.

18. Deadlines because more time should always be available, even when it's not.

19. To set the alarm because nobody wants to wake up.

20. Promises, because some are meant to be broken

21. Wishes because they always change with time.

22. Goals because they are either accomplished or changed.

23. Dreams because they are meant to be dreamt.

24. Sleep because we are so busy living life.

25. When to eat because food tastes better at midnight!

26. How long it takes to do things because we think we are Flash.

27. The stress before the vacation or trip because we get to have fun on it.

28. The fun we had on that trip that one year because of all the other adventures we are having.

29. To feed the cat because they sadly can’t feed themselves.

30. To take out the trash because we would rather have the house smell.

31. To do the dishes because paper plates always work so much better.

32. To have fun because sometimes work gets in the way.

33. To make the bed because we are just going to get back in it anyway.

34. To let the emotion out sometimes because we are always trying to seem stronger than we are.

35. To relax because our muscles are always going.

36. To breathe because sometimes we don’t realize how good it feels to do.

37. To live because everything is so busy existing.

38. To trust because everyone is not out to get you.

39. To love because it is the best feeling in the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
