Dear Best Friend,
First, I want to say thank you so much for being exactly who you are. You are reliable, trustworthy, wise, caring, goofy, and beautiful (inside and out). You inspire me in ways you don't even know, and you are often my voice of reason. Some of my best memories are with you, along with the times you've allowed me to cry in your lap, or get all my energy out when you'd much rather be sleeping. Since childhood, you have been the one person that has always been there. Thank you for being you- without you, this life would be boring.
You are always there for me no matter what- whether it's 2 p.m. or 2 a.m., you answer my calls. If I send you ten texts in a row, you don't complain and you respond to each one of them. You are consistently understanding and helpful when I'm having a mental breakdown, as well as always reasonable when it comes to helping me make a decision. I can count on you- which means so much. In a life full of chaos and change, you are always the same.
I'm pretty sure the secrets that are kept between us are even more top secret than secrets in the White House. I know that no matter what is said between us, it will be kept there till our graves. Knowing that I have someone I can confide in when I desperately need to vent or talk, and you will patiently sit there and listen to me ramble- really means a lot.
You have the knowledge that helps me answer about anything, or at least comfort me. Whether it's wondering what I should eat for dinner, or what I should do with a guy situation or if I'm going through a midlife crisis- you talk through things with me until the resolution is clear. Thank you for being the voice of reason to keep me on track.
You are so caring. I remember the day I thought it was the worst day of my life and I was a mess, and you showed up at my door in less than ten minutes. Or one day I'll get a random letter in the mail and it's from you, being encouraging. You are the one person I can talk to about anything because I know your love for me will never change, and you never judge.
You are one of the funniest people I know. And I want you to know I really appreciated getting that potato in the mail (haha). You just always seem to know how to make me laugh, even sometimes by doing something stupid or sending me tons of snapchat videos of you with weird filters. When we should be studying for exams, you have no problem getting your laptop out and pulling up hilarious Youtube videos.
I love your light spirit and that you take time to enjoy life. I love that you join in with me when serenading people from the car, or going on midnight runs to IHOP, having random deep talks at 5 a.m., crying and eating ice-cream while watching a romance movie, equally matching the hate towards exercise, and talking me out of dropping out of college. Thank you for every memory you have ever created with me.
I am so thankful to have spent a childhood with you, making umbrella tents and playing dress-up. I'm glad I had you by my side during the middle school years when there was petty drama and we made really bad fashion decisions. Thank you for being there in high school so we could have endless sleepover and make stupid but hilarious decisions. And now in college- thank you for continually being there through whatever comes my way. And as we said, in the future we'll still have sleepovers and make sure our kids are best friends.
For all that you have done for me- I only hope that I can do the same for you. Know that I will always be there for you, whether you need someone to laugh at, or someone to wipe away your tears, or to remind you of how amazing you are, or someone to bring you coffee when you've been studying for hours on end. I will be there for you. I will love you no matter what, and my love for you could never lessen.
Please don't ever change. You have so many amazing qualities and I am so lucky to be able to call you my best friend.
