So it's the first day of my freshman year. I'm at a new school, and I know absolutely no one. The counselor thought it'd be a good idea to force two other freshmen to show me around. There was a peppy cheerleader and an awkward, weird girl. Well, this is to that weird girl who became my best friend.
Words can not describe how grateful I am for you. First of all, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for everything you have ever done for me. You have drove me around, listened to me rant, and even picked me up from prom when I was not feeling it anymore. You have been my go-to person for the last four years, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
When we first met, I did not think we would become as close as we are. During our freshman year we barely spoke, and now we do not go a day without talking. It has gotten to the point where I do not think of you as a friend anymore, you are family to me. Like a wise man once said, "family don't end with blood." Everyone knows that when they see one of us, the other isn't that far behind. We are so alike that we are nearly the same person.
We have the same taste in everything. We listen to the same bands, have the same sense of style (even though we barely have any), and the same attitude about everything. Because we are just alike, we hardly ever fight. I am grateful that we never fought because I wouldn't have known what to do without you. You have always been there for me.
Whenever I need to rant about anything, you always listen. It does not matter what I need to talk about, you always try your best to help me. I know you are not good with emotions so thank you for dealing with me when I'm emotional (which is a lot of the time). You have done so much for me and I know I'll never be able to repay you for everything you've done, but that won't stop me from trying.
Thank you for listening to my boy problems. Thank you for listening to my endless (and I mean endless) rants about my family. Thank you for knowing when I just need you to sit there and listen. Thank you for telling me the brutality honest truth when I need it. Thank you for always making me laugh.
Thank you for not making me feel compelled to put on a fake front. Thank you for never judging who I really am. Thank you for always having my back and being on my side. Thank you for being my rock and the person I look up to. Thank you for knowing me better than I know myself.
Thank you for being the greatest one around, and making it hard to find another friend as great as you. Thank you for filling these short four years with so many great memories. Most importantly, thank you for being my best friend. No matter where our lives take us, I know I can always count on you to have my back. Going to college without you will not only be hard, but super weird. I know things will be different, but nothing will change between us. I'll only be a phone call and two hours away.
Love always,
Your other half.
