With the hiring of a new campaign manager and the giving of an uncharacteristically apologetic speech in Charlotte, Donald Trump is clearly trying to shift the ethos of his campaign from outright disaster to tolerable mess.
But no matter how many times he expresses remorse for "personal pain" caused by a seemingly endless dirty laundry list of terrible statements, he still said those things. It's important never to forget some of the horribleness that has spewed from his mouth, even when his strategy of erasing controversy with even more controversy seems to have somehow worked up to this point.
Because it's difficult to keep up, here's a 'greatest' hits list of some of Donald Trump's most reprehensible, downright dishonest or just plain weird statements, all of them made during his presidential campaign.

Never mind the fact that 'an eye for an eye' is one of the few Old Testament laws Jesus explicitly rebuked.
