This last week, the YouTube channel Tomska, created and run by writer, director, comedian, and generally funny guy Thomas Ridgewell, hit its decennial anniversary. Known for his dark and demented humor (“you know it’s a Tomska sketch when the punch line is death”), Tom has gained a large following over the past 10 years, with over four million subscribers to his main sketch comedy channel.

He began his internet career by making cartoons and videos on his own, and then joined fellow internet video creator Edd Gould in 2004 to help work on “Eddsworld,” a series where Tom gained the first bit of his success. Edd and Tom, along with several other creators, started an animation company called "Cake Bomb" in 2006. After several years of making videos, Tom hit viral success with the “asdfmovie” series in 2009, which featured low-detailed characters in very fast and often random situations.

The good times didn’t last too long, unfortunately, as Edd was diagnosed with leukemia, and sadly passed away in 2012. Tom continued to work on “Eddsworld” after Edd’s passing, ending his involvement in it in 2016. While Tom often makes videos for entertainment, he has also gone out of his way to inform his (primarily teenage) fan base about important aspects of life. Tom created the animation company "Turbo Punch" in 2016, the successor to "Cake Bomb," and wrote a book titled "Art is Dead" (named after the Bo Burnham song of the same name).

To honor one of my favorite creators and people on the Internet, here are some of my favorite videos from the last 10 years:

asdfmovie 1

(Of course, the piece de resistance).

Rock Bottom

Puns on puns on puns on puns.

What Happened? (feat. 5secondfilms)

Snowballs

“Some people can’t take a joke,” the video description claims.

Meanwhile…

Ever thought about parallel universes? You won’t want to now.

Musical Suicide

Stabbed (feat. OneyNG)

Helpful and entertaining?

Valentine’s Lies

You will NEVER see the ending coming. NEVER.

Guitar Warfare (feat. FreddieW)

One of most musically and visually complicated videos I’ve ever seen. Reminds me of Scott Pilgrim.

Horse

A truly horrifying look at the daily life of a Horse… person.

The Hole

So there’s my list in no particular order. Tomska has been one of my favorite creators since I started watching YouTube back in 2008. He consistently puts out funny and entertaining videos that never ceases to leave me laughing at some of the most horrifying and awful scenarios.

What are your favorite Tomska videos?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
