1. Pick the perfect bar/club

When going out it's imperative to find the perfect place for you and your friends. This will become THE spot. A place for you and your group of friends to call your own. This will give you and your friends something to look forward to every week, but more importantly, it will also give you the chance to become friendly with the bartender.

Free drinks if you get on their good side.

2. Don't have a usual spot to go to? No worries!

This calls for a...

If you don't have a place to call your own yet, that just means tonight's festivities are dedicated to exploring your options! And finding that one bar that you're happy making your go-to party spot.

3. Know your drink!

Everybody has a favorite drink. For me, it's a good ol' vodka-cran. For some, it's a bud light. And for others, it's anything with alcohol in it. Either way, a favorite drink in hand is a key ingredient to a good night. So always be sure to treat yourself!

4. Tip your bartender!

A little secret I picked up is that you want to tip your bartender GOOD the very first time he serves you for the night. That way, when its time for the second round, he/she will want to serve you first before the other cheapskates! He might even take extra care when mixing your drink if you know what I mean! After that you can just tip him normally, you've already caught his attention during the first impression.

5. Try to get free drinks!

Girls, you've proven that just enough flirting will often earn you a free drink from a willing gentleman.

Guys, you're out of luck. Unless you want to do what I do and shout "ITS MY BIRTHDAY" (even when it's not) and hope for the best.

6. Request your favorite song

Is it really a night out if you didn't shake it on the dance floor? Everyone has that one song they can't resist. So move it, people! I've always said, the best language is body language.

7. Make a memory

The best nights are the one's that you can turn into the best stories. Whether its something hilarious that happened or something exciting, it gives the night a distinction from just any other night out. And when you look back on this memory you'll have a juicy story or a hilarious joke to tell.

Unfortunately, you can't always make memories happen. They just, happen.

But be open to them. If you see an opportunity, take it. They're there. And don't worry, making memories will definitely be a big part of your twenty-fun years.

8. Befriend your uber driver!

Drunken conversations with Uber drivers are the best. Drunken conversations with strangers in an uber pool are even better! Communicating with everyone in your Uber can have your car ride looking like this...

instead of this...

Granted, not all Uber drivers are willing to talk/be friendly with their passengers. It's important to check the ratings!

I've certainly had my share of uber horror-stories. In fact, my last uber drove so fast I was launched from one side of the car to the other (yes, I should have been wearing my seat belt...but my uber should have also learned how to DRIVE).

9. Get FOOD.

Late night drunk food is the best food. As the night of drinking, dancing, laughing and talking winds down--I know most of us have worked up an appetite.

Myself included.

The best way to commence the decline of the night is to stop off at the nearest McDonalds (or whatever food place you like) and order something that you know, will really hit the spot!

10. Netflix & Chill

Come on... get your mind out of the gutter!

I wasn't talking about doing anything scandalous! (Unless you want to...)

No, I wasn't talking about going home with someone to "do the dirty." I literally meant, Netflix and chill.

After going to your favorite fast-food place, your belly is full, you're relaxed and your comfy bed awaits you. Take this time to chill and open up your favorite show or movie on Netflix. It's the perfect relaxing element! And while you're watching Netflix, drink some water! It will help lower the chances of a hangover the next day--two birds with one stone!

And that is the perfect way to conclude the night out.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
