10 Stages of Realizing Someone Younger Than You Is Going To College, As Told By Kim Kardashian

It's that time of year again where college acceptances and congratulations are taking over your FaceBook newsfeed. Woah it feels like these kids were just freshmen in high school-- no it feels like YOU were just a freshman in high school. They're already going to college?! The feeling really kicks in when it's a younger sibling or cousin suddenly heading to the big leagues. Brace yourself; these are the 10 stages of realizing someone younger than you is going to college (as told by the lovely Kim Kardashian... because, hey why not?).

1. Disbelief

You're going to college? Aren't you a freshman in high school still? No, no, wait... Are you even in high school yet?!

2. Denial

That's very funny that you're pretending to be old enough to go to college. It's actually pretty cute. So young and so cute!

3. Ignorance

She got into college? No, I didn't see that on FaceBook. *quickly hides post from wall*

4. Acceptance

Okay. You are old enough to go to college. You're going to do amazing things and have the best time ever and I love you so much!

5. Over Acceptance...

SERIOUSLY I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. I just want you to love everything: your roommate, your classes, your friends.

6. Fear

But what if you DON'T love everything? What if I cannot make you happy while you're away at college? I won't be there to fix things!

7. Tears

I just want you to be forever happy and I want to be there to make sure you are forever happy!!!!

8. Rationality

Ok. You will be fine you are a big girl and can take care of yourself, and when you cannot, I am a phone call away.

9. Celebration

YAY YOU ARE GOING TO COLLEGE YOU LITTLE NUGGET!!!!!

10. Reality

Ok, you got into college. There is still some time before you leave so let's make the best of it and then send you off to have the best four years of your life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
