10 Songs That Remind Me Of My Childhood
The Undisciplined

Growing up my parents listened to all different types of music. They inspired my love of music by exposing me to many different kinds when I would young. There are always certain songs that will come on the radio and instantly take me back to my childhood. These are the 10 songs that immediately make me feel nostalgic when listening to them.

1. Say My Name

My mom loved Destiny's Child which definitely had an impact on my huge love for Beyonce. Whenever I hear this song I think of my sister and I belting out the lyrics in our room and dancing on the bed. This song always makes me think of my mom and my sister.

2. Drops Of Jupiter

I have to be honest, I listen to this song constantly still today, but whenever I hear it, it makes me think of driving in the car with my dad. The song is just so feel-good that you can't help but love it.

3. Just A Girl

My mom being a No Doubt fan and a feminist meant that this song was CONSTANTLY on repeat at my house which I had no problem with. This is probably the song that exposed me the most to what the world is really like around me when looking at gender equality.

4.Unwritten

This song came out when I was in elementary school and I along with all my classmates sang it at my 5th grade graduation. Whenever I hear it I think of my white dress with blue and green polka dots on it. This song was the perfect end to my elementary school experience and means a lot to me.

5.Too Little Too Late

This is another song that reminds me of my sister. Whenever we were together we would be singing or putting on a performance of some kind in our shared bedroom. This song is one that made it on our setlist for our afternoon concerts that was always a crowd pleaser.(My mom loved Jojo also)

6. 7 Things

Growing up in the same time as Miley Cyrus was the best thing that could have happened to me. When this song came out it was when I was just starting to like boys and it definitely was a song that I secretly dedicated to certain guys when I was singing it.

7. I'm like a Bird

If anyone knows me, they know that I love to do karaoke. This was also true when I was a kid. Whenever I went over my best friend's house they had a karaoke machine. We always had our go-to songs and this was definitely one of them. When I hear this song I think of the great memories we had.

8. Genie in a Bottle

My sister used to want to be Christina Aguleria so as you can imagine she played in all the time. When I hear this song I always remember my sister trying to sing like Christina and telling her to try out for American Idol.

9. So Yesterday

When I think of my childhood, I think of how I would watch Lizzie McGuire every night at 7:30 with my dad. Whenever Hilary Duff started releasing her own music, you can imagine I was pretty pumped. I remember walking through the house with my cd player singing along to her songs.

10. Toxic

Britney Spears has always been a favorite of mine. Even to this day I am waiting for the chance to be able to see her live in concert. She is a true icon. Honestly all Britney Spears songs from before her 2006 breakdown, remind me of my childhood. I remember listening to Britney on car rides and singing along with my sister.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
