The hardest thing about going to college is not discovering new friends or living alone for the first time. It is not getting a job and supporting yourself for the first time, nor is it the rigorous coursework. It is not leaving behind family and friends or understanding how to navigate an educational institution that isn’t high school--the hardest thing about leaving for college is leaving behind our pets who have no clue why we are leaving or where we are going, only that we are. To remind you why leaving your pet will be the most difficult thing you do over the next three months, I have compiled a list of reasons why your pet is the best.

1. They Listen

While animals might lack the ability to speak, they are certainly skilled in the listening department. No matter what, your animal listens to your problems and you never have to worry about your pet spilling your deepest and darkest secrets to anyone!

2. They Comfort You

Animals always seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to their owners emotions, allowing them to lay with you and snuggle you despair away.

3. They Make You Laugh

People say "kids do the darndest things," but the truth is that animals do the truly "darndest" things. From their odd behavior to their confusion with man-made products, your pet's humorous behavior can help distract you from life and help you laugh to improve your mood.

4. They Make Your Stress Disappear

How can anyone be stressed when an adorable puppy or kitten is staring at you with those adorably sad eyes and warm fluffy fur? Their joyful disposition and warm nature are sure to alleviate the stress of even the tensest person!

5. They Keep You Warm

On cold winter or autumn days, when even the fire or a blanket can't warm you, your kitten or puppy is always willing to help out.

6. They Protect You

No creature is as loyal as an animal, and even if their attempts at protecting you are futile, it is always nice to know that your animal loves you so much they are willing to risk their life for your own.

7. They Cuddle With You

No matter what, your pet is always willing to cuddle. If you've had a bad day or are just feeling chilly, your pet is surely willing to comfort you or keep you warm.

8. They Are Adorable

Nothing makes your day as bright as witnessing your pet do something adorable. Remember this as you enter into a world where homework and classwork make you want to scream and cry and laugh maniacly!

9. They Love You Unconditionally

Whereas people require you to prove that you deserve their love, animals love you if you provide them with a home, food, and shelter.

10.They Are Always Happy To See You-- Even If No One Else Is

On days when its easy to be convinced that no one wants to be around you, just remember as your dog runs to greet you at the front door that there will always be someone who is happy to see you!

Now that you have undoubtedly been reminded why leaving your pet will be so difficult over the next stressful, long three months, please go find your dog or cat or chameleon or pet rock and spend as much time with them as you can before you leave!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
