Whether you are a redhead or not, almost everyone has either asked one of these questions or has received them. As a redhead, I understand the struggle that comes with having this “unique," “rare” and “one of a kind” hair color. Of course, redheads appreciate the color of their hair. However, here are some questions that we could go the rest of our lives without answering.

1. Wow, is that your natural hair color?

We get this question AT LEAST once a day. This question in and of itself is not annoying. It is more the amount of times we are asked it that frustrates us. This is because we have to try and not make it seem like we are bragging when we say, “Yeah, it’s natural.” So in conclusion, if it looks natural, most likely it is.

2. Have you ever dyed your hair?

Our answer is always, “No, and I don’t plan on it until my hair goes gray!”

3. Do your parents have red hair?

This question is typically asked right after we explain that our hair is naturally red. Here is a fun fact for all of you - the redhead gene is recessive, meaning it is more likely to skip a generation. Many parents of redheads are carriers of the gene. However, according to the National Institute of Health, both parents must carry the gene in order for their children to have red hair. In conclusion, it is extremely rare for a person with red hair to also have parents with red hair.

4. Are you part Irish?

Usually yes, but that doesn’t mean we are going to sing you any Irish folk songs or have some in depth knowledge of our ancestry. So, if those were going to be your follow up questions, please don’t ask us.

5. Have you ever been told you look like [insert redhead actress here]?

Every redhead can relate to being told to dress up as Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” at some point in their lives. I have been told that I look like Emma Stone. And what is the only trait that Emma and I have in common? Yes, you guessed it. Our red hair. Shocker.

6. Do you just love your freckles?

Honestly, most redheads are indifferent on this subject, or forget that they have so many freckles until someone points them out. This is not the most annoying question redheads are asked. However, please don't follow up this question with, “Does each freckle represent a soul you have consumed?”

7. Do you try and avoid being in the sun for too long?

Just because we have fair skin, doesn’t mean the sun is our number one enemy. According to research from Livescience.com, “The pale skin that redheads usually have is more efficient at soaking up sunlight — and sunlight is required for the body to manufacture vitamin D, an essential nutrient.” So no, we don’t avoid the sun. We embrace it.

8. Do you feel like you have more of a fiery temper compared to others?

Honestly, yes. But don’t ask us this question or else you'll actually see that “fiery temper” for yourself.

9. Are you hit on a lot? You don’t see a pretty redhead every day.

Every redhead has been hit on at least a few times purely because of the color of their hair. Guys, it's fine to have "thing" for redheads. However, if you actually want to date a redhead, make sure she feels liked for more than just her hair. We are more than just a fetish.

10. Is there really a difference between a redhead and a ginger?

As you may or may not have noticed, I never once referred to redheads as “gingers.” Why? This picture explains it all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
