Let’s face it: it’s all too easy to caught up in the stresses and busy schedules of life and take the people in our lives for granted. While you take a moment to stop and smell the roses, remember to thank these people who make a difference in your life.
Your parents
This one is obvious, but they brought you into this world and made you everything you are today. Without my parents, I would be nothing. As an only child, I relied heavily on my parents and often still do as a college student.
Your store clerk
No matter how bad your day is going, don’t take it out on the person behind the counter. They are there doing their jobs, which includes whatever you ask of them.
Your best friend
It doesn’t matter how much time you spend with him or her, remind your best friend just how much they mean to you.
Your siblings
Whether you grew up with them and had them as playmates or you’re far apart in age, they are a large part of who you are as a person.
Your favorite teachers
There must be a reason they are your favorites. Make sure they know why they had such an impact on you.
Your grandparents or other family
Your family is so important. Whether you had the grandparents that were more like parents, or the evil aunt, they all shaped who you are.
Veterans
As an American, you live in the land of the free because of the brave. Remember to thank them for that.
Emergency Services Personnel
These are people passionate about keeping you safe. If you happen to see one today, be kind to them. They usually have to pull people out of car accidents or argue with criminals.
Your doctor
He sees you at your worst in order to get you back to your best. This is someone you want to treat with extra respect, because he holds your health in his hands.
Your pastor
This is someone you can go to at any time for just about anything. Even if you don’t identify as a Christian, or if you do and just don’t belong to a church, pastors are the kind of people that are willing and able to help you with many problems, or at least direct you to the resources to help. Thank a pastor today.
No matter who you encounter today, whether on this list or not, remember to smile at them and thank them for their impact on your day. Everyone is fighting their own battles; somedays, all they may need to overcome them is a smile from a stranger. A little positivity goes a long way!
