BTC: to everyone else it seems like three random letters thrown together. To me and twenty-two other girls it represented a multitude of things, including our season. Although our season did not end the way we wanted it to, I wouldn't change the experience I've had this past year for the world.
To the twenty-two girls who changed my life,
Thank you for pushing me to be better every day, and teaching me so many things about myself I never knew. I didn't know I was capable of caring about another person this much, I didn't know I had the mental toughness that I developed, I didn't know that I was so dependent on a group of girls, and I didn't know that I had a new home and new family right in front of me.
Thank you for the endless laughs. Whether in the locker room during dodgeball, or during the famed dance-offs, to not being able to keep a straight face during yoga, I have never laughed so hard than I have this past year.
Thank you for the memories (even though some weren't so great). With the endless birthdays during the season, theme-nights, dinners at Texas Roadhouse, racing to breakfast on Saturday mornings for pre-game meal, the weekend (or weekday) sleepovers. The wins were amazing, and the losses taught us a lot of lessons.
Thank you for teaching me that it's okay to get knocked down, as long as you get up stronger. Through my struggle with playing time the first half of the season, each one of you told me to keep pushing, and keep working harder to prove myself. Without that extra push, I don't know if I would've had the drive to keep going.
Thank you for showing me that opening up to people doesn't always mean I'll get hurt. From my closest friends on the team to the teammates who I didn't usually hang out with, I knew that every single one of them had my best interest in mind. You all made me feel supported and loved, and for that I am so grateful.
Thank you to the seniors for giving me five new role models. Thank you to one senior for being my mom away from home and looking after me, another for being the comedian, the third for understanding my Netflix binge-watching habits, the next for being the voice of reason who wasn't afraid to whip out the big guns at times, and the last for her unwavering Canadian accent that always lightened the mood.
Thank you for impacting my life in ways I never imagined.
Sincerely,
#18
