Christina Grimmie, 22, passed away early Saturday morning, hours after she got shot following her concert in Orlando, Florida. A deranged fan armed with guns walked up to Christina as she was signing autographs and opened fire. Christina Grimmie’s brother immediately tackled the man, not wanting Christina to get injured further nor for the fans to be caught by more bullets. The gunman also shot himself during the tackle. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died a few hours later. Police don’t know how the gunman entered the theater with the firearms. This is a tragic event. We lost a true talent with an amazing voice.
I have been following Christina Grimmie on Youtube since middle school. I loved her voice immediately. She did covers of my favorite songs and I liked how she had an intense passion for Zelda. When she got a Twitch account, I would follow her every now and then and would enjoy watching her play games. She was one of my favorite Youtubers. I was excited when she had her first official song/album come out. I was excited when she met Selena Gomez and made a video about it. I was excited when she auditioned on "The Voice" with Miley Cyrus’s ''Wrecking Ball." It was amazing to be able to follow her journey on Youtube.
Although I never got the chance to meet Christina Grimmie, everyone else that has has said she is a sweet and kind person. Even if she has gone to a better place, her voice can still be heard down here on Earth. Her spirit and passion is preserved in those who have met and worked with her. Her Youtube channel is still there where you can go listen to all of her amazing covers and songs.
I am extremely devastated that she was taken from this world at such a young age. She will be missed and remembered by all her family, friends, fans, and people she worked with.
Thank you, Christina Grimmie, for letting us follow you from Youtube to the big stage. Thank you for being the person that you were. Rest In Peace.
