To The Teachers Who Made a Difference, Thank you

While sitting here in my college room studying for finals I can’t help but wonder how did I get here? How am I attending such a great university and actually making it by?

Obviously, my parents are my main supporters and I could never thank them enough for all of their love and support throughout my life. Without them being there for me and pushing me to be my best I would never be where I am today. However, there are some other people that helped me get here and help all people get to where they are in life that are often overlooked.

These people are our teachers from high school, middle school, and even elementary school.

While not all teachers made an enormous impact on my life there were a few that did. These few not only helped me learn but helped me to develop my passions without even realizing it.

My tenth-grade history teacher, as well as my choir/drama teacher, truly made an impact on my life. These teachers taught with such passion and knowledge that they led me to discover some of my own passions.

My history teacher made me fall in love with all things history, and now I am minoring in it in college and love every day of it. Also, without my amazing choir/drama teacher, I would have never known the magic of Broadway and all things musical.

I just want to thank these people for making an impact on my life without probably even knowing. I would have never thought that they could have influenced my future in such a large and positive way.

Appreciate your teachers while you have them because one day you will want to thank them. Don’t take them for granted and listen to the ones that truly care about you and your academic career.

Thank you to all of my teachers and all that you do!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
