If there is one thing I have struggled with throughout high school, it has been trying to find myself amidst the hustle and bustle in the crowded halls. Let me start off by saying that high school in no way is a breeze for anyone. Growing up I thought that high school would be a time to not only enjoy friends but pursue your passions and find who you are. Sure, there is time for that, but the scariest part is having to grow up so quickly. Within only months of graduating, we are expected to have our life figured out: where we want to go, who we want to be, what we want to do. There is almost no time to figure out who you are between juggling your social life, jobs, and school since we are all so caught up in the present. How can we be expected to live a mature and fulfilling life when we haven't even found our joy in life?
You know how in movies they show that pivotal moment in a child's life that makes them say, "I'm going to grow up and be this!" or, "I want to do this when I get older!" It's as if their life seems to naturally revolve around that one thing, that one little spark that makes them want to be a better person. I am more often than not reminded of the movie Contact. As a little girl, the main character has gifted a radio that she believes can reach the stars, and no surprise here, she grows up to not only work for SETI but listens to the stars with some of the world's biggest radios. Her life is driven by that passion that was set in stone as a little girl. So what if you never have that moment? What if, like me, you're reaching a point in your life where you're forced to take a step back and say, "What now?" If you feel like you don't have a passion in life and don't know where to turn to when all your friends seem to be chasing their dreams at full speed... What happens then? Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know what happens next, and I think that beauty can be found in these situations by realizing that life will throw such unexpected curve balls that can shake us to our very core. So maybe, when all seems lost, we need to be reminded that it is only our perspective that hinders us from doing great things. It is only then that we can find our one little spark; you never know when the smallest doors can open the biggest opportunities.

Uncovering your passions in life should never cease. It should not be something that is thrown to the side when you are no longer inspired. What's important is finding yourself in the little things. in the things that make getting up in the morning worthwhile.
