The Heart Walk is a biannual event that helps raise money through people sponsoring walkers. I am sure you have heard of it at least a million events like this one. But have you participated in one? I usually disregard these events, wishing I could participate but don't bother. I imagine a future where I have money to just donate to any and every cause I find important or to be a scientist that can cure all ailments. Instead of waiting for a day that you might be able to do something, do something today that will make a difference. Previously, I had never even heard of the heart walk, but I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I volunteered at my local hospital, and while I was filling in at the front desk, two women approached me asking if I wanted to put together a team for the heart walk. At first, it seemed like a daunting task meant for more outgoing people, but after they explained what the walk was about, I knew I this was my chance to finally be apart of something important. Whether you are relying on others to make the change, think you cannot find sponsors or just don't care, you have your reasons for ignoring these types of events. Luckily for you, the Heart Walk is different. Take this as an opportunity to hang out with friends and family, view a part of Georgia you might not be familiar with and make memories you can laugh about later. How often can you raise money to chill with friends and go on a walk?

Don't join the walk because you feel obligated, join for yourself and the people whose lives you help.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women. Cardiovascular diseases are seen as more deadly than all the cancers. It is a non-bias disease that can and does affect millions just in the United States. In America, 1/4 people with heart disease die from it. A sedentary lifestyle can lead to heart issues, like strokes, atherosclerosis (which is the leading cause for cardiovascular diseases) high blood pressure/cholesterol and obesity. Luckily, there are organizations and foundations that help fund research for these diseases. One of which, in the Heart Walk, done biannually by the American Heart Association.

The heart walk is as fun as a heart attack is serious. The whole family can participate, and if you can't do the whole walk or must come late, it is perfectly okay. It is a great way you and your family can give to not just the community but to everyone in America.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
