As humans, we are always trying to control situations. Whenever we feel as if we are losing that control, anxiety and fear sets in. When we start to feel anxious about what is going to happen, then our minds completely take over. Once our minds take over, it’s game over. Am I right, or am I right?
Seriously, it’s a real game changer when those waves get going. So, how do we get rid of these fearful thoughts and start taking control of our lives? Well, it’s not easy, but there’s only one way. You have to learn to let go. You have to learn to accept that you aren’t the "man" in charge.
Now, most people will argue this with me by stating that “God doesn’t make your decisions for you”. Well, you are almost correct. God gave us free choice to make the decisions we want to make. But just know that no matter where you go, no matter what you choose, He is always right there trying to bring you closer to Him. You know those gut feelings you get? There He is knocking on the door. In this moment, “He must become greater, and you must become less” John 3:30†. He is talking to you and guiding you through everything. Some people don’t see it until they hit rock bottom, and the only thing left to do is hit their knees and beg for something better. Others don’t see it until they are on their death bed. And sadly, a lot of people don’t ever see it.
Every day God works in your life. It’s how you view those signs and act on those gut feelings that clears your vision on the road to redemption. Now, I was not born to be a pastor, and I am not writing this to shove anything down your throat. You clicked on this article for a reason. The title jumped out to you because something in your life isn’t sitting right with you. If you had total control in your life with work or relationships, you wouldn’t still be reading these words right now. There’s a void, and you are looking to fill it.
So, nothing great in life comes easy right? I’m not going to tell you that letting go is easy because then I would be lying. But I will tell you that you don’t have to walk the pain this life brings alone. You don’t have to carry the heaviness around that you are feeling. That void will always be there until you learn to let go. Let go and let God. Every single one of you reading this can do that. For the Bible tells you so.
“I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13†
Yes, you can choose your own path, but there will be thoughts, feelings, and happenings that consume you because you try to control and understand them on your own. If you wish to learn how to let go and let God. Start by reading his word and praying on what you read. You don’t have to know how, ask Him how to do it. The more you seek Him, the more you find Him. Proverbs 8:17 †
